Cabin air filter
So on my old xb. I made my own filters out of the hypo allergen filters that go in a house. i forgot the proper name. I just now realized i never changed my stock one. so i took it out, got lazy and never replaced it. Is that bad? cause i honestly don't notice a difference in my air, seeing as i switch between AC and open window alot. are there any reasons that i should put a new one in?? idk if it afects the car at all.
These should be done around 10k miles. If you do some searching here, you'll see they have a tendency to mold, even though they dont smell. This could be bad. I change my Hyundai and Scion every 10k.
Absolutely. And it's not just dust that gets into those cabin air filters.
When I change mine, sometimes I find leaves in there. And leaves are a LOT bigger than dust, so as you can imagine, some pretty big things will be able to get into the air that is filtered into your cabin.
I buy the hypoallergenic ones from the grocery store and just cut those up.

Thanks for reminding me, I had forgotten to do this on our XB1. At 30K it should be black when it comes out.
I noticed at the car stores, there seem to be 2 styles. Paper and paper + carbon/charcoal. The later coming at a lot higher price - oops that was for the honda, sorry... but they might be available soon for the Xb's. Anyone had experience with these?? (Bosch P3600-paper & C3600-charcoal)
Fram (despicable???) does one with baking soda and carbon in it. That might be nice

I know where I work there are regular or carbon ones available for lexus and a few toyota models, not sure on xb but I can check. Its a pretty good price diff between the too, at least for oem.
Just put the new filter into the XB1. Simple to do,
specially as there was NO FILTER to take out. The frame was there, but no filter.
I feel jipped
EDIT
Just checked on the Xb1 forum and I guess the filter was an upgrade. They never told us that?
Checked on Xb2 and it has a nice dirty one in there after only 12K miles
