Default Dash has a weird "section" on it?

I was wondering if anybody may know the reason the flat area of the dash, in front of the passenger seat, why mine is slightly "discolored"?. In reality, it isnt really different in color, but like, glossier or duller or something.

I tried to use some quick interior detailer, some aero protectant and water the past few days and the "discolored" part will not go away? It makes no sense!

I only start noticing it a few weeks ago and I didn't really do nothing to it. I wish I could take a picture but I doubt the picture would come out, its faint, but noticeable.

Any ideas what may of caused this? Its almost like somebody scrubbed the dash to the point of it changing texture and causing it to look different, but it wasn't be or anybody else, so I am clueless!

Maybe it is caused by some oil residue in one of the cleaners at one point, will dish soap and water remove it if it is? And is there any risk in scrubbing the dash (with microfiber of course) without causing damage to it?

Ideas? haha

disfigured, haha.

I would say it is a stretched out oval type shape, with horizontal "smears" it looks like.

Pretty large area as well, stretches from about 2 inches right of the center counsel to about two or three inches right of the A pillar. Then from where it lips up by the windshield, to about four inches in front of the front, where the AC fans are and stuff. Ill see if I can PS an area to show it better.

There is a pic of it.. You can see the "darker" areas and dont know what is causing it? You can get the general idea of it here, more distinctive in person.

dishwashing soap and water is my suggestion!

My wife uses alot of lotion on her hands and my dash looked same as yours. The dash on the XB is a dust magnet and easy to leave marks...

that, unfortunately, is normal for the cheap plastic interior our xB2s are afflicted with-
have you checked out all the other plastics in the car?
for example, notice how the door textured plastic is glossier/shinier than the dash textured plastic

sometimes passengers like to put their feet up on the dash, maybe it was that.

Isn't that where the passenger airbag is located?

the plastic in that area is thinner than the rest of the dash to allow the airbag to burst though in the event of an accident. the thinness of it mat be causing a slight discoloration. also, do not push to hard on that area when cleaning it. there are "fault lines" in that area so the bag will come through.
