Default Do Viper and Python color remote really eat battery fast?

I was going to put a Viper 5902 or Python 1091, but the install guy told me they eat battery very fast, you have to change the battery every month or so. Compare to them with Viper 5901 or Python 991, the remote ain't color and the battery would last a lot longer. I believe SST and color remote both eat out battery faster than other remote.

yes any of the responder or 2way remotes, lcd or the led models eat batteries oober fast usually need changed every month, there are a few models from DEI (viper, clifford, python, ect.) that have rechargable batteries built in the transmitter and they come with a charger similar to the cell phone charger from a motorola razr(mini usb)

The two way remote on the 5901 does not have a changeable battery it is rechargeable with the cable that is provided. When mine gets low i just plug it in. I am sure that the 5902 is the same.

Ehhh... maybe my Zenesis LCD remote that I use constantly for my door poppers gets low every 2-2.5 months. If you cheap out on batteries they wont last as long.

I don't suggest the motion sensor... it'll create a lot of false alarm.

Those prices seem about right. You might want to check Amazon for the alarm and see if you can get a better price. That is what i did and i got the viper 5901 for 200 the shop wanted 650. I went online and did the whole warranty thing no problem since the dealer was an authorized seller.

I do not agree with you, the battery may be a problem with a faster, protecting it is the key

I bought and installed the Scion Security accessory (includes glass break sensor), DEI 504D shock sensor, 507M tilt sensor, and hood open switch. Works great, reasonable cost, but installation takes some imagination and effort. Main drawback I ran into is Scion Security doesn't provide a discrete alarm armed signal.

Oh ****, I almost forgot this thread, it's about a year ago. Sorry folks, I got CompuStar RF-P2W9000-SS instead and added tilt sensor, backup battery, and self charge 2nd siren for a total $720 installed. That's from my local store which is a authorized install dealer.

5901 & 5902 are both rechargable. I have a 5901 in my xB and my wife's Corolla S. I love it, they also have the ability to be programmed to 2 cars. That way we each have 1 remote for both cars and a key for each car on our key rings. That way we never have to swap keys.

My battery lasts about a month or so on average. Charging takes about an hour or 2 usually.

My old viper 771 in my honda I used to own would last maybe 2-3 weeks... maybe..
