Default Dying Breed..

Gosh, I wish there was more activity here. It seems like I'm a dying breed. I love the simplicity and reliability of this little car. I stop to speak with xB owners when I see them and they think I'm crazy. No one seems to share my enthusiasm.
I fell more in love with it after looking at new cars, I don't like all the unnecessary electronic gizmos and gadgets, just things to break. I like the backup camera, Blue Tooth and a good stereo and that's it, no alarms warnings or cars that shut down.

Oh and the price of new vehicles.

Love these cars. So much fun!

My wife wants to convert one to hybrid. Perhaps transplant a Prius drivetrain into one... hmmm...

Yeah, the latest cars just doesn't seem as appealing. Too much extra unnecessary stuffs. Only thing I'm considering is new Supra...

There's an idea, I'll buy the second one you build. lol Always liked the Supra. I had an 83 GT when I was a kid and then an 86 Turbo.

That was my 1st car in high-school! Learned to drive stick with it. Learned how not to drive too fast in mountains and crashed it. Learned tonnes about upgrading suspension, engine and even added nitrous!

Really miss that car. It lasted to 254K-miles when rod-bearings wore out. Surprising it lasted that long considering it was maintained by ignorant teenager. Not wanting to date myself, but they sure don't make them like they used to! I only had to replace alternator on it entire time! It went that distance on orignal water-pump, ball-joints, rear-shocks, brake rotors, timing-belt, catalytic, etc. Stuff that seems to be disposable wear items nowadays...

All the activity moved over the the FB groups when they started up years ago. Most people don't even know about these sites anymore. The name brand is gone and even the newest 2nd gen is a 6 year old at this point. For most car buyers that's getting really old. I still love mine and I've had it since new in 08 but I do realize that's in the minority. Nothing out currently interests me much but I am looking forward to when VW releases the ID,Buzz for the 2023 model year. Just looking to see how the ID.4 does in terms of reliability. Electronics and VW are not words I like to hear together very often, but I'm hopeful.

I'm now here.

And I agree!

Have just bought 2004 Hot Lava xB #1512 and this being my 3rd 1st Gen xB since actual year 2003. I'm more excited and smitten than ever...
In fact thinking of buying a future 2nd one. Anxious they are hard to find.
I wanna do what I didn't do with the last 2.
THEME IT OUT. LOL

Going for an "Marine Life" idea. (I'm in Miami) Need an Octopus decal for the hood!
Want some kinda water thing on the sides.. Maybe little waves.. Like 10 inches high.

Facebook is definitely a cluster f*** in terms of usability in terms of getting information and not having to repeat it 300 times for people to lazy to search. It's just where everything is currently. I really only use it for my car groups and hobby interests on my personal account, build info and picture storage for my car account and then I have an account for my business. All with matching IG accounts of course. It's where people are any more in this day and age if you want to keep up on stuff/people.

OT:

It's Also Where Hackers are. And Where they begin their ID Thefts and Data Breaches.

I'm Old School and don't need a thousand Facebook "friends and strangers" I never met. And you realize that
FB who owns Instagram & WhatsApp is one of the Biggest Collector of Private Data? Ask Mark Zuckerberg.

I own a lot of their stock @ the IPO Price of $25 since 2012. Current Price is 320.10 I don't use Facebook, I OWN Facebook.

Great stock to Own, Lousy if you Value your Privacy and Security:

You sound 1,000% like me! I cannot fathom new car prices now and yet people are buying cars left and right for some reason....
the xB is the best car and I've had my fair share of fancy higher end cars and they all pale in comparison to the xB.

the one thing i love about the xB - I'm not afraid to park it anywhere. if it gets a scratch from someone parking, it gets a scratch.
I'm not loosing sleep over it, obsessing over it, etc. yeah it sucks but it would suck more if my imaginary $100k Mercedes got the same scratch.

that and my $23 dealer oil changes are the best. I've own my second xB now for about 8 years and i can confidently say I don't think I've
spent more than $3k maintaining it.... that includes new tires, rotors pads, flushing of tranny and brake fluid, etc etc etc - all regular maintenance.

hello! New Scion xB owner here! We are in the process of buying our 2015 xB and can't wait. We've owned an 09 Yaris and '13 Yaris for years and loved them and decided to upgrade (dang kids). We thought the xB was the next logical choice.

But I am looking to make some changes, like more forward lighting (fogs or brighter low beam bulbs, etc...), increasing storage inside, and getting winter wheels/tires.

I look forward to browsing the library of info here and hopefully finding a good community!
