Default Engine rattle?

Anyone else noticed an engine rattle? I can't tell where it is coming from...it's weird because when the car is in D it rattles...in N it doesn't. Hubby thinks it is coming from right, I think it is coming from left. Any ideas?

it could be your hood.
make sure your rubber stops are ajusted up far enough

swartzautoman has to be right, it's somewhat common; here's a more complete description of the fix:

There are two big black rubber bump stops on the left and right sides (toward the front edge of the engine compartment) when you open the hood. Just turn them counter-clockwise a half turn; if that doesn't stop the rattling, turn them another half turn... you're done. Now close the hood and go for a drive!

BTW, I assume the radio manual arrived?

Mine did the exact thing. They have a revised tension pulley assembly,

they replace that and no engine rattle anymore.

betcha it is that...

Hood rattle? Ive notice mines has a random lifter click, then a vacuum leak sound from the rear. My xa was like a watch, consistant noises at idle.

my tacoma is another story, the gear nose of the super charger rattles at idle in gear like a power stroke 350 diesel truck. Then there is that random lifter click like a few valves need adjusting.

I just love the way I cant feel it shift. I ran 2 large awe 4 cables to the alternator ground and hot to the battery along the front and man, it smoothed out the tranny, removed some delay from the throttle.

Oh man thank you! I have tried to get this fixed from the dealer since new. They could not tell me what the issue was.

I had this long ago and it was the little rubber bushings in the engine bay. Once I raised them up a tad, all went quiet again and never been back.

Hopefully that is your problem as well.

In "D" the engine drops to a lower rpm than "N", which results in more vibration and so if anything is going to rattle, that's the time. Most likely it's the hood as mentioned above.
