Today, my wife and I were driving the freeway. It was lunchtime, and we wanted to look for restaurants on the nav unit. Sorry...you can't input a route while you are moving!

Is there a fix for this? I suspect that the unit must be wired into the Vehicle Speed Sensor somehow.

I was really looking forward to having a permanent nav unit in the xB. However, the way it works from the factory, the portable Garmin unit is far superior!

Thanks!

I have full acces to my Nav unit. while driving no problem at all. Is this something required in Calif.? I am in Tenn.
If not, before I start cutting wires I would go to the dealer and tell them to fix it. I can't find anywhere in the manual where it discusses the restriction you mentioned....

is it possible to wire it something like this so you don't have to flip a switch?

still trying to source out a switch that fits and looks factory.
I like how Scion changes the switch size just to mess with me.
Thanks, Your the man....

Yes I have an Acura TL with Nav and can program it even while driving. The system always has a disclaimer that appears which you HAVE to agree to by touching "OK" before you can start using the NAV. I suppose this is to cover their ****.

I can't count the number of times I programmed it while at a stop light. It would be such a pain in the **** if I couldn't.

How can someone figure out how to do that, and then use wire nuts ? Must have been an E.E. LOL

the other "fix" relies on the hope that the navs will operate the same way with the same wire configuration... do we have any reason to believe that they will? i won't put my chips on it... each computer system is different.

Gotcha!...

So randode, have you been able to find a rocker switch that fits the new xb nicely. I remember you saying they changed the size of them.

I'm convinced Scion doesnt want me to mod their cars, so they changed the switch size. About the only thing that fits that I have found is an OEM foglight switch.

hey randode, do you know if you can access the ipod menu controls with your fix? currently, motion locks you out of being able to select different playlists, etc. from the iopd. really annoying! i am hoping that your fix will work for this too...
