Thanks for the update. I had planned on getting a shark fin, but didn't realize that it would present navi issues. I'm assuming (usually not a good idea) that you are referring to the SNS, not an aftermarket unit.

shouldn't affect gps reception on the SNS, it's antenna in under the dash up behind the gauge cluster

that's really weird because i only touch the antenna and all of a sudden my location on the map is not where i am at- i drove around to see how's the radio signal after the install. I put the oem back and it fixed the problem

Are you sure? I've seen other postings referencing the navi antenna under the dash, but they were always aftermarket navi unts. I hate the pencil d1*k antenna, but I don't want to spend $80 to have the same problem.

Maddman, do you have the SNS and Shark Fin?

BTW, Miketf1, I've never had a single problem with my SNS jumping around or having satellite reception issues.

Does anybody else have the SNS with a Shark Fin antenna?

I have the SNS, the GPS antenna is under the dash, you could tear off the rear antenna and all the nav would still work

Sorry to thread jack but does anyone know how long the GPS antenna for the SNS is? Mines right behind the rpm gauge under the dash and sometimes im not getting the accurate position, so I want to move it right above the rearview mirror for better signal. Anyone done this before? BTW I have a tC.

Ok, I nkow jack about audio..... I have the Pioneer navi unit that came with my RS6... is it an SNS unit? What is SNS? If it will all work with a good blade antenna, then what is the good antenna to get? And where is the install thread for it?

1. No, the Pioneer navi that came on the RS6 is not the SNS.

2. SNS stands for Scion Navigation System, and refers to the navi/stereo upgrade that was available on the regular '08 and '09 xB's. All the xB navi's have the navi antenna under the dash, near the gauges.

3. The Shark Fin antenna that replaces the OEM rubber antenna only receives the radio reception, and is available here:
http://www.sharkfinantenna.com

4. Complete installation instructions are on their website, and also here:

^^^Thanks. I guess I should ask.... If I have the Pioneer system that was installed in my RS6 and shown as standard with the 09 RS6 from Scion, with GPS and phone and all that other crap, will the fin work for it and still get good GPS data?

Thanks for the links. Headed there now.

Yes. As I said above; the GPS antenna is behind the dash, and the Shark Fin antenna is only for radio reception (am/fm).

I have the RS6 with the Pioneer Navi, and I installed a Shark fin. Navi and XM work fine, am/fm reception didn't change for me.
