i would go absolutly ape poop if someone just stole my wheels. If youre going to steal my car, take it somewhere and destroy it, i dont want it back.

Now its just going to cost you $500 for your insurance to put a battery and some 16" steel wheels on your car. Pretty stupid if you ask me.

Heres what you should do, go to the dealership and ask if they will write you an estimate that says you had 18" wheels on there before.. that way you get atleast a little money back..

When my car got broken into (multiple times) State Farm reimbursed me for everything that was stolen even if I didn't have receipts. Good luck with everything!

you have to register your rims to the insurance company???
thats stupid...

in vancouver (ICBC) if you have receipt and photo of it on the car then they will insure it (up to a certain amount)

I'm planning on getting some wheels also.
I think I'll check with my insurer (State Farm) to see if its covered.

I have progressive and they cover up to $3K in additional equipment. Anything more and you have to pay extra. Every insurance company is different.

Sorry about the box. Your pics just ____ me off. Hope everything works out alright.

It'll be alright. As long as it drives the same, looks the same, and no vagrants used it as a toilet you should be good. If your insurance covers more than just the wheels, tell them you had an alarm, "Which is why they stole the battery" ;) Then hook it up so it won't get stolen again. Again, sorry about the PITA all this crap is.

If it helps, the thieves probably just drove it down the street to get it out from in front of your house and give themselves time to get the wheels off. So no weirdos were probably in it for very long.

Get the wheels replaced and you'll love it again soon enough.

Do you have a five speed or auto? If it's a stick they could just hit the e-brake handle and push it.

Well, You'll get your ride back.. Sucks they the rims, but it could be worse. I'll tell you a quick story cause I'm bored and drunk....

A buddy of mine had his system ripped off right out of his front yard, luckily, his insurance covered it as he had declared it. Anyway, when he got replacement gear, he put razor blades behind the radio and near the rear subs. Well, sure enough, lightning struck twice and they broke into his truck again. While the idea of the razor blades seemed good at the time, his entire front cab was covered in blood...LOL... I found it funny. but it cost him a fortune to have the blood steam cleaned out. Although I felt like he was vindicated, he felt screwed because they did get the radio and he had to pay to have the cab cleaned. I thought it would be worth the cost of the cleaning to know that the guy that ripped you off got F-ed up....

sad thing is its most likely someone you know or who had worked on the car. maybe they cut a key and just drove it a way. Im not sure about the battey though, thats a new one on me. spent the cash and get a good alarm with paging technology. its good for up to a mile and you will know if anything is going on with the car. Glad to see your getting your car back. hope everything else goes well.
