Default First upgrade to my stock xb HELP!

Hi everyone, im new to the site and im not sure how to really navigate around but ill figure it out. Anyways, i was looking into getting an intake system for my 2012 Scion XB. Its manual and im not sure what brands/type of intake would be the best for my intentions. Should i get a short ram or full intake? what brands are good and would still be under $300 or so? Any advise/tips/recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Get something that will actually make a difference. Go with a rear sway bar or lowering springs.

x2

Intake just adds a sound to the car under load, but will not add any real power. I agree with AAG, I would Strut bar, Sway Bar and springs.

Ok, so they all state that they add horsepower and torque but is it even noticeable or is it all sound?

This is my daily driver but i do want to slowly turn it into somewhat of a sleeper lol. (i get off on beating these little civics with exhaust) so that leads me to my next couple "dumb questions"....

So strut bars and sway bars obviously give the car better handling right? strut bar being the one going over the motor and sway being the one in the rear correct?? (sorry im learning) does it make a big defference?

The front struts are mounted so close to the firewall that a front strut bar does very little. Its all about sway bars for more cornering stability with the 2nd gen XB.

As for the CAI, it does help greatly with throttle response and my butt-dyno felt a little more skoot under full throttle.

As Pyroman said, improvements to air flow into the intake plenum/manifold do improve engine responsiveness. Also as mentioned, improvements to vehicle stability characteristics do improve vehicle handling. I've done both and wouldn't reverse the changes.

Tenzo CAI- replace with AEM Dry flow filter. i had it for 4 years. Its awesome and inexpessive and looks cool. Have fun! Also DO IT. its one of the cheapest things you can do for sub 150.

Guess I'm being repetitive with this, but yes,

If you do add an intake, you'll notice a very slight increase in horsepower - very slight. Mostly intakes are used for the sound. If you do install one for your car, you'll certainly notice better throttle response and less hesitation when accelerating from a dead stop. But it definitely won't drop your 0-60 time by anything overtly noticeable. The fact that it increases your horsepower and torque and makes your car sound so much "throatier" when accelerating makes this a fantastic modification for your car.
I agree with these posts, but each vehicle is the creation of the owner, just try to achieve max result for your dollar! Best wishes Bro !
