Default Fog/driving lights

I am going on a shopping spree on ebay right now, already ordered a wing for the xB.
Now I'm caught between universal driving lights:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-04...#ht_5151wt_973

and vent insert lights:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/08-SC...ht_4359wt_2060

audi style driving lights:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Audi-...#ht_8046wt_967

if anybody has any experience with either one, I would love to hear about it. The first lights seem to be more interesting, because they are .75" tall, exactly the size of the openings in the bottom grille.

to be honest.. i wouldn't get any of those.. if you're going for anything that's going to help.. the led lights aren't going to project much light for you.. if i were you i'd just get the scion fog lights for the fog light section.. and replace with a better bulb.. that's what i plan on doing in the future

I wouldn't be able to put in OEM fogs because of the way my radiator was fixed. a pipe was welded going forwards instead of up, and it's in the way of where the right fog light would be. I'm not really interested in the light output, I just want something that would look nice.

Here is how the vent style ones look at night... They look like they would match the color output of the 5000K-6000K HIDs that are out there.

Honestly, I think the vertical look of the lights in the vents doesn't go well with the overall design of the car. A horizontal strip would probably look much better. I just have to find a way to make it somewhat invisible during the day.

I bought these at walmart for about $20. Not much light, but I think the look is pretty good.

I just looked through walmart's site and didn't find anything. The packaging says "LED Racing Lights" but I didn't find anything like that on the site. I found these at a Supercenter though, not sure if regular Walmarts would carry them. They are not super high quality, but they come with wiring and give the look I want...which is great for $20.

I like that. I think it looks pretty good with the box. How did you mount it in that lower grill? Was the wiring difficult and did it come with everything you need?

The box comes with everything you need - pre-terminated wiring and a rocker switch. Wiring isn't difficult at all. After I got the bumper off, I drilled a small hole in some metal on both sides for the grounds and ran the power cable through the passenger side grommet. Make sure you have a lot of zip ties so you can hide the wires, you don't want them hanging down and visible through the grille. The rocker switch is right by the VSC off switch, there is a fuse box right behind it, I just grabbed some power from there...these lights don't take much.

Mounting them in the grill was simple enough. I cut the vertical bars on the top most section of the grille and just shoved them in there. They are a pretty snug fit. I was planning on using 3m double sided mounting tape, but there really isn't room for it, so I just taped over the back of them with some electrical tape and called it a day.

lmao That sounds too much like the work of a "quality" American car to me.

It looks really good with the box, but my only problem is that I would want these lights that you implemented to function as a fog light. True, the light effect is nice, but I'd rather throw in some unique fogs, which is why I'm considering the Carbon Fiber fogs from FastScions.com. I like the look of your light mod though, so I might be implementing that in my box, too. I didn't find it on the Wal-Mart site, but I saw a similar one on eBay for 10 bucks more.

I've got HIDs, so I have plenty of light already :-)

Are these the carbon fiber fogs you're looking at?

Pretty sexy, kind of what I was looking for originally...but really price. I am going to spend that $200 on springs instead ;)

btw, in the pic I was just testing the lights. Check out my other thread on the front page to see what the final product looks like.
