Help! Braking problem- dealer cannot find a problem....
So yesterday I was driving through a parking lot and had to stop for a car backing out. The place in the road I stopped had a drainage slope right there so the car was not "flat" at the time of the stop. It was NOT a real hard stop. As soon as I stopped my brakes felt odd and I heard a really bad springy noise like something broke.... I can still brake BUT there is a massive amount of dead space now between when I put my foot on the brake and when the car actually slows. It is almost all the way to the floor to stop now. I only have 4700 miles on it.
I took it to the dealer right after this happened and they could not find anything wrong with it and my being a female doesn't help because I don't think they believed me at all and said they could not replicate an issue- but the issue remains.... They said my brakes are 100%, the rotors are great and still have hatch marks, ABS is fine, calipers are fine.... all is fine according to them.
I called again this morning and will be taking it again on Sat. to have them look at again. Anyone have any clue about this? I am kind of scared to drive my car now.

I had a similar issue with mine. First, Make sure they check too see if there is air in the lines and that the brake master cylinder is functioning correctly. If those are fine then u may have the same issue i had. My brake pedal was really soft and it almost had to touch the floor before the brakes would grab. I took it to a shop and after inspection the found the one of the brake caliper hangers was getting stuck and not clamping down. This may be your issue also. Once i got a new brake caliper hanger the issue was resolved.
It sounds like there is air in the brake lines....also there is small possibility that your brake fluid is bad and has absorbed too much water. Have the dealership completely drain the fluid (not just bleed, but completely drain) and replace it. Also, if you want a very firm pedal and better brake response, upgrade to some stainless steel brake lines.....I just bought the Dezod stainless steel lines and the brake feels way more responsive, they are worth every penny, here is a link:

Also, that "springy" noise is the result of a low grade ABS system found on the first gen Scion Tc. Mine does that every single time that I pull into my driveway (even at low speed), because the driveway is not level with the street and somehow uneven ground trips the ABS mechanism. But now that I have the stainless steel lines, the problem is no where near as bad.
My abs light comes on with the tire pressure light... It comes and go's would that Ss line take care of that. It's been like that since I got the car like 3 years ago lol.

thats weird....ive had my tc for 6 years now and the ABS light has never come on. The same treatment might help you though......completely drain the fluid, get new fluid and stainless steel lines, should clear up the problem....but also check the inflation of all 4 of your tires

I had the same problem. Went to dealership every month arguing, turns out after my warranty expired thats when it was noted that my caliper was not compressing right, did the same as you, did it myself and now i'm fine.
