how do I split the white interface wire so:

that one goes to pin 7, and
one that goes to a resistor, then to pin 8

Should I just manually untwist the white interface cable, and split the metal wires in half evenly?

Also, should I be soldering the resistor to the white interface cable? or use the twist wires together and crimp method?

what I did was cut some of the white wire off and turned it into two wires. the cut one of those wires and soldered the resistor in series and taped all my solder joints. it looked like this (just imagine that just to the left is the white wire and further is the pac harness
/--~~-- this wire got soldered to pin 8(with resistor)
\------- this wire got soldered to pin 7(without resistor)
did that help? sorry my artistic skils suck

I am having the same issue...i have not tied to install the pac ps yet, but how do i get the mode button to light up again?

i connected the wire harness that i got from crutchfield and if i remember correctly, there were 4 harnesses that were connected to the stock radio. only two of them are used with my d3

what are the other 2 harnesses used for?

which one do i need to use to program the pac?

The mode button lights up after you get the pac controller installed.

The 2 harnesses you have left from the stock radio are, steering wheel, and iPod/aux.

Once you install the pac controller, your volume up/down, track up/down, and mode button will work. Along with your purchase of the pac controller, you're going to want to get a 150 oHm resistor from Radioshack for $0.99 for the mode button to work. You'll understand why once you see the pac controller instructions

for the programming of the pac, its very straight forward, you would just skip track up/down in favor for preset up/down

for the resistor, on the white interface wire from the pac controller, you would splice in half, with 1 half connected directly to pin7 i believe, and you would solder the resistor to the other half of the white interface wire before connecting it to pin 8.

the black wire from the pac controller connects to pin 6 black wire

resistors look like this:

here are my home made "paint" instructions:

heck ya megaman that illustration worked a lot better than I could ever do it!! the pac should come with all the resistors you could ever need for any vehicle...

thats funny cause I just saw that commercial on TV
I would definetly recommend soldering the resistors in line because that is a MUCH more relaible connect verses a crimp or just twisting them together. but when soldering them make sure you dont melt the resistor wire cause they are extremely small and fragile

hahahaa...ok...so by following the drawing, i shudn't have a problem right?

and the pac should have the instructions for the mode button programming and everything...and i want presets...i don't need the track up down.

ya with your setup the presets would probably be better...
the pac will not say how to get the mode button to light up, it just lights up when you give it power (i.e. when you hook the pac up and program it). the program instructions are pretty straight forward to bro.. feel free to give me a call if you have problems!

ok..i guess i got a side question maybe you can help me with. so im thinking of putting the avox in the glove dept since there is a hole there that the wires can lead into the HU...it needs to be powered by a remote and i bought an IR extender by gefen. it looks like a little mouse. tiny tiny...

http://www.fullcompass.com/product/330151.html

where do you think i could place this so that it is in good range? just wanted your personal take on it..

i WAS thinking about the little flat area where the spedometer and stuff is, but i duno how to get up there. like the area right above the d3...the flat patch

thanks man...

to get up there you just pull the panel off that covers the speedo and you should be able to get the wires up there.. what does that 3.5mm plug in to?

it plugs into the avox jukebox which is controlled using a remote...but since the thing will be in teh glove, i won't be able to control it unless i used the IR extender.

is there an order that i need to follow to take off that panel? i know how to take off the HU panel and the PRND panel...anything i need in order to take off the speed panel?

IT so funny i had just finish installing this on th weekend. So i couldn't find a Pac interphase so i went with a peripheral interface, which is the exact same thing as the pac interface.

I am able to change track on my xm source u and down and vol. up and down. there is also an option to program more bottoms. It works perfectly.

Toyota also uses an interface either Pac or Peripheral.

hey guys...so after a couple of hours of pounding my head against my HU...

i got the pac to work...(holla bego)

BUT...when i went to install the HU back into place, after everything was bolted back together and pulling out of the driveway, nothing on the steering wheel worked..

it was working when everything was hanging out, but when i put it back it it didn't work...

im guessing there are two things that could have happened.

1. the wired remote plug came undone from the back of the d3.

2. all the tap-ins that i did fell apart along with resistor (praying that is not the case) because that took me a llllllooonnngggg a ss time to finish

any ideas fellas?

thanks...i am so ____ed because i spend so much time trying to get it to work...and i finally got it to work...and now it's not working again....WTF!!!!!!!

so are you trying to say you can change tracks on a cd and change your fm presets with the peripheral interface? or does it interface the same way to where you can either program it to do your presets or your track up and down?

sup..bego..thanks for your help last night...and i also figured out why it said i was in NY and arrow was pointing in the opp direction...it's because it used to be in my ford and it had adjusted itself to that car..

i went to delete all the learned routes and cra p and im back on track again...

only thing now is to figure out that damn pac...

since it was already programmed and working....if it is a plug issue...all i need to do is plug it back in right? i don't have to reprogram it

i think that it would still retain the memory...i was reading that even if you switch out the battery, it should retain the memory...

but if it is a resistor problem, i wonder if i will need to reprogram it again...

how sensitve are those things anyways?

i bought the 14-18 gauge wire taps...i think the reason the connection is so bad is because they are too big...what size taps should i get instead?

oh god maybe no bigger than a 20 or 24 gauge, or like I said if you can solder all connections I would definetly do that for reliability! thats my opinion though
