should i go back and redo them then? with smaller taps?

does it affect the wire connectivity if i've tapped into them multiple times? im afraid my wires are gonna start lookin like swiss cheese soon

it was working when everything was hanging out, but when i put it back it it didn't work...

im guessing there are two things that could have happened.

1. the wired remote plug came undone from the back of the d3.

2. all the tap-ins that i did fell apart along with resistor (praying that is not the case) because that took me a llllllooonnngggg a ss time to finish

any ideas fellas?

thanks...i am so ____ed because i spend so much time trying to get it to work...and i finally got it to work...and now it's not working again....WTF!!!!!!!
Most likey your connection between the pac and steering wheel harness came undone. It happend to my friend until I solder it myself. He used electrical tape and crimping, and after a few bumps, shakes, and regular driving, it came all undone. Resistor was no where to be seen, and pack controller was just bouncing around inside the dash

i went to delete all the learned routes and cra p and im back on track again...

only thing now is to figure out that damn pac...

since it was already programmed and working....if it is a plug issue...all i need to do is plug it back in right? i don't have to reprogram it
If you got it to program correctly, the pac will remember all the programming already. Don't worry about it, just worry about your connection.

that I am not to sure of.. if it is just plug it in and turn the key in the ignition and see how many times the light flashes for the programming mode then go from there
no problems for the help either jay
A simple way you can test it is if the pac blinks 8 times when you turn the ignition on, and you'll see that it will have remembered your programming

but if it is a resistor problem, i wonder if i will need to reprogram it again...

how sensitve are those things anyways?

i bought the 14-18 gauge wire taps...i think the reason the connection is so bad is because they are too big...what size taps should i get instead?
It will retain memory. The resistor just provides a pathway for the electrical current.

Here's a random fact, if you didn't put in the resistor, and you just wired it straight through like you did with the white interface cable, the same way you did with the red,

track up and "mode" send the SAME electrical current. The resistor changes the current of the red wire "mode" so the pac registers it as a different button. Without the resistor, its the same button. It can't tell because remember, your pac interface white wire is split in half, which it doesn't know.

You should have solder in the first place. The only thing you should have tapped was the VSS wire

ok..so i went home last night and pulled the HU out again...

the led lit up 8x which means that it's still programmed, however it was still not responding...

SO....here we go again..

im going to try to retap the wires using smaller wiretaps...22-24mm

and im going to redo the resistor and wrap it with elec tape (which i did last time)

hopefully this is the final time...it's a pain

is there any way to make sure that the resistor stays put and does not get f'd up easily?

just elec tape?

with some soldering.

instead of electrical tape, and soldering, you can always try crimping it with crimp caps

any updates jay?
when you get it all working again, I would zip tie the pac to a brace or to the factory wiring harness so it doesnt move around while you hit bumps and what not
