Default I want to get an in-dash nav unit....

I am planning on getting a Pioneer AVIC-X710BT for my xb I was just wondering if there is anything special that I should know before I get it. Like are there any special things i need to know about fitment or anything?? I know I need a ipod cable and steering wheel control wiring, but other than that should I need anything else??

This should actually be in the In Car Entertainment section, but I'll let a mod worry about moving that.

You might need a double-din dash kit.
You will need a wiring harness.
Other than that, you should be set.

IIRC, the xB2 stock radio is a double din size, like the AVIC. You should be able to use the factory brackets to hold the radio in. But there might be a gap on either side of the radio, Scosche and Metra both make readily available trim kits. Now if you want to maintain your steering wheel controls you'll need the SWI-PS to interface them with the new radio if it has a wired remote input (it should be I don't remember). Naturally you'll need the Toyota pig-tail harness to connect the Avic to the radio harness already in the car. On top of the usual stereo wiring, you'll also need to run leads to your parking brake, Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), and backup light. The radio should come with the leads, its up to you to located the wires in the car.

find out if the parking brake lead is a hot or cold lead and loop it if you want to run dvd while moving depending on what state you live in

Wow... I always thought that you just took out the old unit and put in the new one and you were ready to go! I should have known that it's never that easy. LoL
