Default If I buy accessories online, do I lose out in install cost?

So I'm looking at the accessories and the difference between the cost from what the dealers sell for and what sites like TRDSparks sell for.

For instance, the Rear Spoiler goes for $423 from the dealer and $267 online. The Sport Muffler goes for $489 from the dealer and $394 online.

My question is, most dealers I've talked to include installation in their full prices for the accessories. So if I bought these types of items online, and had to have them installed, by the dealer or some shop, wouldn't I end up spending just as much if not more than if I just paid for them from the dealer?

I know your first response will be to do the installs myself, but I simply don't trust myself enough messing with the car to not make things end up being more of a pain than it's worth.

Thx.

that really depends on how much the dealership or the garage would charge you to install it. or if you can install it yourself, then you win completely.

from my experience, dealerships don't include installation in the price of a toyota/scion accessory.

also, depends on what accessories you have in mind. most are pretty simple bolt-on parts that come with a complete set of written instructions and such. pretty easy really.

Just a few things to keep in mind when buying Scion parts online:

1. If you buy from someone other than a Scion dealership, there is no warranty if the car malfunctions or something goes wrong because of the part that was installed.

2. The dealer may not install a part purchased somewhere else since they have no way of knowing the quality of the part. If something were to go wrong during installation, you could blame the dealer and they could blame the part. It would be a mess.

3. By purchasing a Scion part from a dealer and having them install it, the car and the part are covered by whatever warranty you have. This is especially good if you have an official 6 year/100K mile warranty.

Personally, I would go the dealer route if you do not feel comfortable installing the parts yourself (I'm in the same boat with you). Especially on a brand new car. You wouldn't want anything to go wrong with it.

We do at time of purchase.

As for the question. Your just gonna have to price it out and see. Its to hard to guess since shops, dealers across the country charge different shop rates
