how much do you think an estimate would be to get this repaired?
i don't even wanna start going to a body shops asking for quotes because i know ill just break down and liquidate my savings to fix this asap.
and i really don't have the funds right now, so i shouldn't...

and input on what to do would be appreciated.

How long is the scratch? Typically if you think one price, it ends up being double. I wouldn't be able to fathom what that would cost.

 

insurance will be a bad choice.
since i was in harris county, they will take an arm and a leg. not much they can do unless i want to be royally screwed by them.

the scratch is deep. but not enough that it went through all the paint. i wont have to worry about any kind of rust.

its just...noticeable.

 

If the scratches are deep enough to require repainting, figure $400 per panel.

So how many panels does the scratch cover? If it's more than two, you might want to call your insurance company.

man that burns me up to no end. why can't someone be lucky enough to catch these little spineless punks when they do this crap? that is the one thing that would absolutely send me into a rampage if I caught someone doing that.., to any car for that matter.

I spend so much time keeeping my car away from people who would open their doors on it, or knock into it with a shopping cart, and then these jerks who do this stuff makes those attempts to keep something nice almost futile.

I feel for you dude, and I hope it doesn't cost too much to get it fixed.

I was hoping it might of been a shallow one that could be buffed or blended out, I've had some miracles performed on my older Corolla. But it sounds like it's gone through the first coat.

 

although i chose the silver xb...the scar is noticable.

im not going to be happy at all if its going to cost $800

 

Don't forget to figure in blend time / costs. If you want the repair to match and not stand out like a sore thumb, you should blend into the adjacent panels such as the front fender / rear quarter panel. If the scratch ends within say 9 inches of the edge of a panel, then you probably need to blend. Silver cars usually need blending.

If you can feel the scratch with your finger nail, it is too deep to buff out. I would estimate from the pictures 2 hours of body work for the scratches and then 9-10 hours of paint time. Body labor at $40 per hour, Paint time at $60 per hour, $680.00

 

I know EXACTLY how you feel, my ride (Blackberry Crush Met.) got keyed about two weeks ago. Scratch is about 10 in long on the hood! Oh, and I parked valet

 

Does the lot have disclaimers posted about damage to your property? If they dont and they didn't have good video coverage, they may be partially accountable. Back in the day you could make a grocery store pay for shopping cart dings because it was their fault for not collecting the carts. Bizarre i know, but true.

 

Hey I just got a rock chip in my hood and I've been trying to find a mobile service to take care of it. I found this company doing some googling. They have a video on their website of the process. Seems like it could be a cheaper easier alternative for you. I'm surprised that since it's a site selling a "franchise" service they don't have a rep locator on their page, but I sent them an email today to find someone in my area (they didn't have one) maybe give them a try.

Don't know if this would help but, willyxb posted a rock chip projectile and a company that repaired it paintless. I rot at threads posting and should search the site for schooling on posting pics and all. check out his post and maybe someone local does something similar. I hope anyway!
