So i ordered some 5000k's thursday (got em today!!! now thats fast shipping!!!), and i installed them...well i have this harness left over, do i need to put it on? the lights work fine without it but i just want to be sure so i dont mess anything up!!
When a set of hid's start up the draw is way over stock wire capacity for a few seconds and can melt your stock wires. Using the supplied harness and drawing power straight from the battery isolates this spike and only uses your stock wires as a switch through the relay to turn the hids on and off or switch to high beams.
Many hid sellers will tell you that it is not needed but its your call.

please put this in at your earliest convenience!! like before you use your HL's again. this kit came with this relay and harness for a damn good reason. if it didn't need it, it wouldn't have come with it.

Yes you need to put that harness in there. It is there for exactly what sdsnybny said. Your HID kit is going to pull more current on start up. Yeah your factory wire will hold it for a little while. But the harness makes it safe. Keeps the draw off your factory wiring.
well guess what? i dont even get how to hook it up. it has 2 male connectors, 1 female connector, 1 positive cable, 1 negative cable. now i know where the positive and negative go but what about the 2 male and 1 female connectors???????????????
