Nav system
Soo I was looking at getting the xB2 soon. I was looking at all the fun gadgets and the nav system was a very big factor in my decision. I head only one thing about the nav and it was a negative one.
I get lost VERY easily and have NO sense of direction.
I also don't like the "hand held" one's that sit in the window as we have 4 of them in our family. Is it worth it? I also have NO electric skills. Nor do I have the time to install one myself. I have heard that you can ''hack'' them so that you can by-pass certain things. So if anyone did get the system can you tell me how you like it. (or how you hate it
) Anyway!!! Thanks!!!
I also like the look it give the cab of the car.

I like it a lot.... There are some neat stuff about it. The one thing that i kinda dont like is that you cant play movies while driving, for safety reasons but you can bypass that. One thing that I love about it is how it fits so nice into the dash, unlike the after market ones....
I dont really need to watch a DVD while driving but I was just worried about the finding the P.O.I and the ipod playlist. Is it easy to bypass? Or do you have to do that wiring thing found here... (https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...ght=nav+system)
Because I wouldn't even know how to do that if my life depended on it.

ya you have to do the whole bypass....no magic code as of yet.
POI inputs, i have not really found that to be a big problem. i usually know where I am going before i leave and input anything if I need it. I rarely ever have to input, or change destinations while driving...but thats just me, you might be different.
The ipod lockout is what irks me....you can change radio stations, cd tracks, volume, fade, balance etc all while moving but they lock a majority of the ipod out!?!? If I go on an extended trip I bite the bullet and run the ipod thru the aux input so I can have more control of my music.

Can somebody with the nav system try this?
All you have to do is push the menu button then volume, then tap the top left, bottom left and repeat as necessary. All you have to do to leave it is turn off the car.
I really would like to know if this works. It works on the 2007-2009 Camry's.
~Thanks

I've done the "tap tap" thing you're talking about, and gotten into the hidden menus, but no the SNS does not allow for this GPS override hack that some other Toyota and Lexus units allow.
Here you go Josif.
System Check Mode allows you to do 3 main system checks:
Service Check
Display Check
Navigation Check
it also has touch locations for Camera Check & Bluetooth TEL Check, but since the SNS100 doesn't come with those modules they're not lit up & don't do anything.
Service Check didn't seem to show much of anything, maybe it's only for service techs to use.
Display Check lets you look at:
Color Bar Check
Touch Switch Check
Panel Switch Check
Vehicle Switch Check
Navigation Check lets you look at:
GPS Information
Vehicle Sensors
Color Bar Check
Memory Copy/Paste
Parts Information (navi system software is AISIN AW version 398100D, and DVD disc info is denso version 06.05.12)
DVD Player Information
The only informative fact I gained is that it confirmed that the SNS navi system software is not by Panasonic or Alpine, as many people erroneously thought. The sound system technology is Alpine, just not the navi software. It also let me know that the navi DVD database disc is more than 2 years old, even though I've only owned the xB for 8 months.
All in all, pretty useless, but now you know.
