Need Help, Dealer wont repair
Ok, so i my car started to have random power failures under acceleration and sharp turns. The dealer ship wants to blame my trd intake for shorting out the ECU with a faulty wire on the Mass Air Sensor. Then they wont to say my Mobile HID kit grounded it self incorrectly and shorted the ECU and took my power steering out. Can either a ground or a Faulty mass air flow sensor do this much damage. And are the TRD intakes covered under Toyota warranty? What should i DO.

Did they show you where the damage was done? Darksides has the best suggestion so far, but you'll have to go to a different dealer...and even so, the previous diagnosis will show up on your service history. You could also step it up a notch and appeal to Toyota corporate customer service. Let them know that your situation is being monitored on the Internet.

I say remove the Mobile HID kit reinstall stock H 11 bulbs and bring it to another dealer. Leave the TRD intake in don't replace it with stock air box. Its under warranty either way 6-months if you self install it and 12-months dealer installed. Also if the dealer's don't wanna help you i would call Scion and complain to them direct, def will get something going cause they don't like it when Scion owners complain, Trust me i know!!!!

Folks,
on Saturday I picked my 08XB with only 2800miles up from the dealership after they fixed a bad airflow sensor. The car is BONE stock, no CAI, no anything. I drove the car home, drove the car to church Sunday and today the check engine, VSC, and traction control lights come on.(same as last time) Tomorrow I take the car in for a second time in less than a week for replacement of the airflow sensor. (I'm assuming)
Is this just a common issue with these cars? I have heard how sensitive the airflow sensor is on these and I have to say that I never had an issue with any of my Mustangs airflow sensors. Hell Ive even dropped a 75mm off the workbench and it had no issues. The only time I have ever had an issue is when I was cleaning the element one time I got cotton stuck on it. Blew it out and BAM...good to go.
