So i took the headunit dash from the my 08 and put it into my 2010. But the odometer is still the same! it shows 39,000 when my current car only has 410. how do i reset that Ecu to represent actual mileage?

 

you can't. the odometer mileage is stored in the gauge cluster.

 

crap. so what do i do? i have a custome gauge face and LEds inside this one. or can i possibly switch the CPU's out?

 

How were you able to keep your guage cluster from your old one? Insurance would have never allowed that.

 

Well they took 100 or so out of the check. I have the blue led mod and faceplates. So I took it out the ride.

Why?

 

they would've needed it to sell the car unless it was completely totaled and couldn't be salvaged.

you have to switch the gaugefaces over and get the new gauge cluster swapped out.
there is no way you're going to get the old cluster to display the correct mileage.. and switching whatever flash memory over will be more difficult than just swapping the leds.

 

Yea it was totaled. So I removed it. Now in sad those lil leds where a pain in the **** hopefullyy I can de solder

 

What about inplugging the battery and hooking it up again. Would that reset the chip again like it does the clock?

 

Probably not. Imagine what a pain it would be if every time your battery died or if you disconnected the terminals that your odometer would reset. I think Toyota would prevent that from happening. There's probably some high performance battery system that backs up the odometer information in that gauge cluster.

 

Probably uses non-volatile memory. The odometer is designed to be extremely hard to tamper with. If you try, the thing might go into lockdown and display ERROR or something. Then you'll be stuck with a expensive paperweight.

 

try asking the dealer if they ahve any ideas? just don't mention your name or anythign specific like that

 

the gauge control modual will need to be sent out. they have to reburn the milage in the old one.im not a scion tech but thats what they tell me. i m an acura tech and i can do acura ones with a computer in about 5 mins. so the 2010 may be different.
