Can't even get 1000 miles on it w/o issues. Keeping my fingers crossed that it is something in the glovebox.

Ok so it went in Wed. and came back that Wed. It is now in again. They were unable to find the cause of the noise the 1st time so it is back again. Hope they find it this time. At least this time I got a 08 xB to drive instead of a stripped Corolla. I know I know don't b!tch at least I got a loaner.
well i have had my xb since sept and heard creak around a 1000miles i thought it was my polk tweets i installed so i called polk and asked about warranty and they told me how to trouble shoot it so by doing this discovered the creek and my vin falls under repair, but i wasnt going to get it repaired dint want them to rip the front end off to do it, well yesterday pulling out of my drive way i heard a lop pop and bingo the widsheild cracked from apillar toward center of, bout 6'' worth, droped it at dealer last night , just got call that they ordered a new fac windsheild but say it wasnt caused by apillar problem, they say it was caused by a defect in the plastic cowl around windsheild , i asked service dude if he could explain this in detail and he reffered me to tech that worked on my car,,,its off to the dealer now to see whats what, they did say they were going to fix this under warrenty obtw i have 16k on it now already 150miles a day to and fro work,,,sucks but oh well ..ill post findings later sorry for such a read,,but maybe now i have a new problem we all could look forward too,,,,,,sucks buying first year of a new design
That last thing we need is anyone posting any kind of "This might be a problem we all get" post. I know that isn't what your intention is but thats what it could result in.
On a lighter note, I had a HUGE rock from all the snow/ice we had recently clobber my windshield dead center last night and no chip! At least that much is fixed. I would have had one hell of a chip and cracks in my old 06, for sure.

last thing i want was to start a panic, hopefully its just me , tech said that crack was prolly do to a bad install of my windsheild at fac and not apillar but my wiper cowl is loose and rattleing against bottom of winsheild (sourse of my creaking ) he said , they are going to replace windsheild at no cost to me and repair/replace cowl depending on what they see when they remove it to install new winsheild

Well according to the dealer and Toyota the TSB may affect vehicles after the VIN. I just got off the phone with my dealer and they performed the TSB and said that the noise seems to have gone away. Well lets just hope no scratched paint or anything of the like. Or they are getting it back!
BTW mine was built after the VIN on the TSB.

So has anyone found out if this is just an annoyance or is it harmful to the structure of the vehicle? My car is before the VIN number in the TSB, but I'm not letting the dealer touch it if its just to fix an annoyance. I had a creak, but I put some cardboard between the pillar cover and the windshield and it went away (though by reading the TSB I seriously doubt that my creak was the one they were referring to). But yeah, anyone know?
i've had the same "creak" that has been mentioned. started at about 2k/mi, right about when its started to get cold. it was on both sides, but not at the same time. i found the rubber strip at the cowling (where the wiper arms come thru) that touched the bottom of the windshield to be the problem. i put a papertowel on a small flat head and ran it under the strip to clean it, and the windshield. then i applied a small amount of auto silicone to that area and have had no more problems. the clean up was a pain, but well worth the results!! hope this can help some of you. if anything, you can see if this works before going to the dealer...
I am not sure if it is a safety issue or not. The pinch welds are not tight enough and cause body flex is what my dealer told me. Of course when I went to pick the car up today I looked it over and of course there are missing screws and a chunk of paint about the average size of a male pinky missing from the passengers wheelwell. Yeah I was a little ____ed! What was worse is that if there are 2 missing screws that I found just looking at the wheel wells, I could only imagine what the rest of the car might be missing after they did the TSB.

That sucks! If the noise is still there in mine I am gonna make them keep the car till they find it. hey gave me a 08 xB loaded with all the factory goodies for a loaner and it has about the same miles as mine and there are no noises in it what so ever.
