rules:

1) 14 gallon tank
2) generally 11.50 gallons to fill when light goes on
3) most of us mix highway and city driving If mostly highway better mpg /city lower

If you drive to save gas, you can squeeze better. Total highway I've gotten 31 mpg or 350 total miles
If total city driving 23 mpg or around 264 total miles.


sounds like you avg. about 26 and that sounds like a good overall.

Almost all of my driving is to and from work on the interstate. Weekends are around town some so I guess it isnt as bad as I thought, taking into consideration there is 3 gallons left when the light comes on. Guess I got spoiled with my first gen xBs !

Go buy a Prius if you want better gas mileage. That's actually pretty good for the xb2.

the funny thing is that you spend more money than you will save on a prius lol you would have to own those cars from anywhere between 19 and 25 years before you save money on gas lol and they only get a little bit better gas milage so its stupid to buy one of those spaceships lol

LOL @ rbenson. How many miles do you have on your ride? Bolt-ons could probably up your mileage a bit (if you drive normal).

If you want to start small, try uping the tire pressure in the tires, add some Chevron fuel injector cleaner, and wax your car haha.

Driving the 405 in moderate traffic, I am getting 23-24mpg according to the computer? How accurate is the computer, I have not yet calculated mpg from fill up to fill up yet.

My car has just a little over 3000 miles on it now. I drive very conservatively unless I have to hammer it getting onto the interstate. I am running 19s so I try to keep the tire pressure as close to normal as possible, and my xB is so slick with wax its not funny!I see everyone says that Cold air intakes dont really do anything? All I was planning was a CAI and header so it could breathe a little. I did put the Borla rear duals on.

That's your problem you only have 3k miles. Check back at 10k and see if you mileage has improved (mine did).

ive got 16000 miles on mine and my trip to colorado this year i got 34mpg all the way there

I've got a road trip this weekend from Dallas to Houston, I hope to get that kind of mileage .

ATxB how fast were you going? Did you use the cruise control? My best has been 31mpg hwy going 60 mph with cruise control on.

I had it between 60-75 the whole way. some parts i did use the cruise control (lubbock especially cuz the flat parts for hours). and even in colorado for some reason i still got like 28-31 average in the mountains up hill and everything. idk how that happend but i loved it. Try keeping it between 65-70 on ur trip with cruise and see what you come up with, 65-70 is a great speed to maximize your mpg

mine did the same thing in the mountains i noticed alot less power to.
probably due to the lower oxygen

The best way to improve your mileage is to drive slower and accelerate slower. The shape of our cars really affects mileage at higher speeds. I can average 42-56 mpg when I am going 40 mph it drops off after there.

The ACTUAL mpg verus the DISPLAYED mpg can be anywhere from 1.3-2.2 mph generally from my experience (I kept records of it).

SO if your display is showing 25, your probably getting 23-24 actual, depending.

I have 5k miles on my xb. It's got auto tranny and 19" rims. I drive mostly highway going to and from work on Monday through Friday...then some in town driving on the weekend. I have been averaging about 27mpg according to the computer... is that good?

OK...so I have 477 total miles on my new xB. Just filled the tank and calculated a little over 20mpg. 18" wheels, 235/40 tires. Should I be concerned?
