I was on the way to the dealer to get a filter and my passenger side flew off. Saw it out my rear window.

I asked a service advisor if they is some kinda recall on them cause there has been a few of this things flying off. I hate knowing that Im missing one.

Hey Pasquale, where you getting it for 70 bux ? The dealer wanted 98 bux !!!!!

mine came off after i washed it, then i drove on the freeway and i saw it hanging on the side, i tried to grab it as i was driving but then just flew away. Good thing the toyota dealership was 2 exits down, i exited and took it straight to the dealer and told them what happened and they replaced it. for free

I take it those of you paying for replacements are no longer under warranty? My driver's side one flew off on the highway awhile back. Dealer replaced it with no issues other than I had to wait 3 freaking hours for them to get it done.

I just discovered my driver's side drip molding is gone when I was washing it today. My immediate thought was that someone stole it. But, I think since buying my xb brand new in '08, I've only run it through a automatic car wash once about two months ago and maybe it's been missing since then I don't know.
So glad to hear dealers are replacing if still under warranty. I should be ok, only have 23000 miles on it and not quite 3 years old yet.

Wow so stoked!!!! So went to the dealer yesterday that I bought my xb new from in '08 to get the 25000 mile checkup/oil change/tire rotation. Not only are they going to replace the missing rain channel drip molding I posted about yesterday, I happened to mention and point out to the service rep some corrosion that has occurred on all four of the custom aluminum alloy rims I got with the car when I bought it and THEY ARE GOING TO REPLACE ALL FOUR RIMS UNDER THE BASIC WARRANTY!!!! Got to give shout out to Toyota of Melbourne, Florida!!!!!! They treatin me right!!!!!!!!

Also, I live down the street from the beach in FL and unfortunately the xb sits outside 24/7 but was wondering if anybody on here can give any advice/suggestions on how to prevent corrosion on rims? Thanks.

This seems to be a common problem. I was washing my car a couple of weeks ago and noticed that the rubber channel piece was missing as well. I went to the toyota certified center that's less than a mile from my house. 26k miles on the car and the thieving f*****g bastards told me they wouldn't warranty the part since I didn't have the piece with me. He told me that it might have come off in a car wash. MY car has been washed by hand since day 1 (which is TOTALLY IRRELEVANT) I said, you can't prove it did and they needed to warranty the part. The did nothing for me. Needless to say i dropped many F bombs. (may you rot in hell Toyota certified of Santee) I called the dealer i bought the car from (Kearney Mesa Toyota), and politely asked if the part would be covered under warranty. Without missing a beat he said absolutely it would be covered. I then told him the story about what happened. The service manager told me that we should be able to take the car through a car wash without worrying about pieces coming off the car. Not only was it replaced at no charge, he had me out of there in less than 30 minutes!! Much Love to Kearney Mesa Toyota!!!!

Bottom line.. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO TOYOTA CERTIFIED OF SANTEE IF YOU LIVE IN EAST COUNTY/SAN DIEGO!!!!
