LOL drifting in your xb ..........You could probably fight it in court since you were "off-road". Happened to a buddy of mine and I believe what he told me was that the police have to call the owner of the lot and see if they want to press charges. If they don't, then they have to let ya go since you weren't on a public road....G/L!

Go look for signs on the parking lot that say something along the lines of "Parking lot subject to police enforcment of all traffic laws" or something to that effect.

If you find a sign, you're screwed. If you DON'T find a sign (look at all the enterances) you MIGHT be OK but probablly not.

I think reckless driving is a $600 ticket and three points.

yeah you definately want to fight this ticket, because not only are the fines high, but also your insurance will get cranked up.

Depends on your state. CA just passed a new law this year that makes it illegal to be driving wrecklessly in any parking lot/structure.... I believe there are some provisions to it, like if it is your property or if it is truly off road. But in CA, parking lots are a no no.

i dont know if you can do it out there or not, ut here in jersey you could get it knocked downm to an "unsafe driving violation" or Unsafe operation of a motor vehicle" (i forget exactly what its called....anyways, its a no point violation and the fee is about 100-150 bux (for your first offence) 2nd offense (withing 5 years) is about 250-300 and your 3rd offense (in 5 years) your pritty much F***ed. its like 500 bux, you get all the points from previous offenses plus an additional 4 points.

good luck man.

He's not getting this knocked down. I'd suggust going to court - and pleading guilty. It'll cost you thousands to get an attorney and he'll not be able to get you off.

If you plead guilty the court may knock down your fine.

thousands to get a lawyer? Maybe Johnny Cochran....At most probably a couple hundred dollars for a lawyer, and on a traffic violation like this im sure a lawyer would have a very good chance at lowering the charge.....

The California Vehicle Code defines reckless driving as driving a vehicle "in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property." You can be charged with reckless driving on public roads or in a public or private parking facility. A reckless driving charge can, and often does, come along with other criminal charges stemming from the same incident.

Reckless driving may sound minor, but the consequences can be much more serious than the consequences of an infraction such as a speeding ticket. Reckless driving is a misdemeanor charge carrying imprisonment for five to 90 days, a fine of $145 to $1,000, or both.

Not true, $1145 PLUS insurance... The insurance company will be asking you to bend over after they get wind of this... your best bet is to fight it. Go to a traffic ticket lawer and they'll let you know what's up usually free of charge.

Were you in an empty paved parking lot, or were you on a privately owned dirt lot?

You = screwed. You can not drive like that on a public street or parking lot. Research online how to fight a ticket via mail. I will see if I can find the link for you later when I have more free time.
