There is no way that those mpg figures are directly comparable. There is also no way that I would consider buying a 3000lb car with a pathetic little 1.5L. That thing would get left by bicycles at stop lights and have to draft trucks to acheive and maintain highway speeds. The 1.8L might not be too bad with a turbo.
