I was like others and got dupped into buying the extended warranty. I just found this thread.. WOW. I might have to call.. Was curious though. I had it added to my loan along with the lifetime oil change. I canceled the oil change and they credited the bank instead of cutting me a check. SO, my question is this.... will the same thing happen with the warranty?

Default Toyota Financial Extended Warranty

Does any one know if Toyota of Greenfield is still the place to go for a better deal on this warranty? Has anyone done this lately? My salesman tried to sell me this warranty for $1275. Is it possible to beat this anywhere? Please chime in if you've scored a better deal on the REAL Toyota Extended Warranty. I'm shopping it around right now, but wanted to see if someone has dealt with them more recently than the old posts. Thanks in advance

Troy Dietrich at Toyota of Greenfield is definitely the guy to go through. I bought my Toyota Platinum 6yr/100k (zero deductible) service contract from him for $750 about 2 months ago. I put 24k miles per year on my xB, so I went with the 6 yr. instead of the 7 yr.
IIRC it was $810 for the 7yr/100k service contract.

My friend owns a dealership... so I know how much money they make on those...

in addition, I used to cost out warranties for a company (calculate the cost to the company in great detail), and know the insane markup on them... I NEVER buy extended warranties (well, if it was cheap enough, but so far none have been).

The issue is out of mfg warrantee and in California. I guess that is a problem. Two dealers already responded with that issue.

Ended up dumping my new used 2006.5 Scion xB (long ugly story), and replaced it new used 2008 Xb. Ended up using Jerry Johnson at Midwest Toyota Superstore for the warranty. Head and shoulders cheaper than everyone else. He even can cover Lexus, Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln. You definitely want to take care of this "before" the factory warranty ends, or it is almost impossible.

Here is the contact info:

Which extended service contract did you get, and how much did it cost?

Toyota Extra Care?
Platinum, Gold, or just Powertrain?
Deductible?
Miles/years?

Just curious for comparison purposes.

Got the 8yr 75k $0 ded Platinum Extra Care (son's car, so not driven a ton). One thing to remember is that the extended is from 0 miles and 0 years, not "additional" like Hondacare is (have 3 Hondas).

8 YEAR 75,000 MILES $614.00

Thanks for the info. I just wanted to see how it compares to Toyota of Greenfield (I have the $0 deductible Platinum Extra Care also), and they're about the same. I paid 22% more $$ for 33% more mileage coverage, but for a 2 year shorter period of time... I put on a lot of miles, I'll hit the 75k mark at about 3 years of ownership.

Questions....
1) Same price if within the 3/36 original or does the price change with miles while still within the 3/36? in other words is it more if you are at 2 years and 35,800 and less if you are at 2 years 12,000?
2) Is this a bumper to bumper? or powertrain only? Will it cover the crappy Poineer radio to 7 years as well?
3) Are there any riders in there about scheduled maint having to be done at the dealer, or any other required dealer services attached to the policy? I do all my own services at my service garage.
