Supercharger aside, how can I make my 08 xB faster?

Dont buy a GPS..
My garmin indicated that the speedo on my xB is about 1/2 mph faster.

 

actually, you can do several things..
Cold Air intake, new headers, larger exhaust, reduce weight, but thats about it

 

Push the Gas Pedal down further.....

well it is a four cylinder...dont expect a race car out of it. But i would say a chip, air intake, exhaust, carbon fiber.....just to name some

 

I would guess that an exhaust that is less restrictive and deletes the resonator would have a good impact on power, and also running a header.

There are a lot of people running really large, wide wheels that look great, but the heavy rotating mass is terrible for acceleration. An easy mod would be really lightweight 16in. wheels.

 

thats what i did, i kept the stock tires and got black 16in wheels. looks good and lightweight

looks good...the polished lip actually makes them look a bit bigger than 16s

Ya, they look amazing cleaned. I washed the xB yesterday and cleaned the wheels up all nice and they look beastly. 18's would of been nice, but they still look good

okay, let me get this outta the way: the xb is my wife's car, so there won't be a whole lot of modding, and we have the 16" alloys. having said that, does putting a k&n filter in do anything at all speedwise? if it does, what is the difference between the trd cai and just a k&n filter? thanks.

 

Its all in the brand of what the CAI is. as for speed wise, idk if ur gonna feel anything. Its not gonna give u a boost or anything. It will just allow more efficent air into ur engine. and a true CAI allows the cold air to go in and thats where u will see better performance. It will also make the gas mileage a little better. But i would get the K&N or AEM intake. better brands and more effecient filters

 

I just ordered a TRD CAI (bc of the little sticker that says it is 50 state CARB certified.) Is there that much difference between CAIs?

 

They claim slight differences in HP and TQ gains but the appearance and filtration are the biggest differences.

K&N dyno specs were posted and they show a 9HP gains at 5K RPM which is the largest I've heard of and looking at the sheet that isn't even the largest peak gain during the run so they could claim higher if they wanted. https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...188&highlight=

Most claim 6 HP or so.

I have the AEM and the thing I like most about it is the oil-free synthetic filter.
