Default Sunroof

Hey guys. I'm new to the forum, i just purchased a 2010 xb. Still waiting on delivery. It took me a good month to decide between the xb and the other choices. My main issue was i wanted a Sunroof badly. I know the RS5 came with a sunroof, and I plan on installing one on my box asap. [stealership said they'd do it for 1500 ]

I have a question. Does anyone think the TC panoramic sunroof would be able to be installed on the xb? I could get one for like 250 in fantastic shape and i think the panoramic style is what i wanna go for.

Also does anyone who has a RS5 have a photo of the button unit for the sunroof? i just wanna see what it looks like, where its located etc. Thanks guys

possibly. but as far as i know the xb is a flat roofer, and the tc is on that decent curve so maybe not.

There is no way the tc sunroof will fit the xb. If you want a sunroof get the dealer to do it. If you have any electrical or water leaking issues in the future, you'll possily get denied warranty work. Not worth the risk imo.

$1500 for a sunroof installed with a warranty isnt a bad price....

the only other thing i would consider would be a full length rag top. prolly cost the same amount.

Absolute negative on the rag top, unless you want to drive around in a car that looks like a PT Cruiser.

Do the dealership sunroof to get it right, you know what I mean? Then post pics and let's seee!

Pyro - i assume you have a CONVERTIBLE top in mind which looks like this:

yes, hidious.

however, a full length rag top, is a TOP, when its closed, you dont know its there, when its open, well, you have win...

i was thinking of more along the lines of

and another angle on that tahoe..

I really like the idea of the large fabric sunroof. I don't know what they are called, but the new Jeep Liberty's have them and the old 1999 or 2000 ML320's had them. Where do you get that? I really don't feel like spending $1500 for someone else to do it. I want to get my hands dirty!

You Cant do it without making the car no longer street legal plus you wont be able to insure it. There is a beam in the roof that is just behind the stock sun roof that would help keep the car intact in a collision. Possible of course.. viable... nah

have NONE of you heard of webasto?

Webasto comes with a lifetime warranty on the actual sunroof.

has a Panoramic option.

and doesnt effect your insurance.

http://www.webasto.us/am/en/am_auto_sunroofs.html

expect to pay over a grand. easily.
