you should get what you need. Satisfy your needs and not your wants. In my case, I want the new xb, but i don't need it. Highest speed limit over here is 55mph. I told someone i was going to get the new xb and he said "How fast do you plan on going?". I got to thinking.....hmmm?.....I guess 55 mph....So the first gen is just right then. And the only thing you will gain is more space and different look. So.......You're spending a lot more, for a little bit more space. I think you should keep your tc.

Get em both like I am ;)

Eh, it's up to what you NEED. I need to transport a bit of stuff now that I have a house, but I don't want a pickup truck (well, i don't want the poor gas mileage with it)

$13k for a trade sounds low for an '07 tC. I know the bastards near me try to sell used tCs for a much as new ones ($17/18k)

Though, trade in depends on the condition of your car.

Take a KBB.com or NADA print out with you for trade in value, and if the dealer keeps lowballing you, show em that.

the space extras, upgraded performance from the previous gen, and excellent safety features are what made up my mind, but I think it may be soon to be getting out of an 07 to move on to an 08.... you could always go in and find out what kind of financing you can get, etc. and definitely haggle with that 13,000 trade in....

Carmax also buys cars off of you, they have been known to give good trade-in prices. Try to get your hands on the "little black book" that dealers have. It'll be more precise.
As for the whole deal in general... why do you want the space now? You just absorbed the biggest hit you'll take on a car, the first year of ownership and the depreciation that goes with it. If you can wait it out some, do so. If you REALLY NEED the space then by all means.

I would wait for sure. You are going to get hit with only paying on the tC for one year. (unless you have many many extra payments). You are going to come out losing a bunch of money.
