No ticket issued to me wating for the police report.
Fender toast pulled it out with a hammer to make it driveable, Drivers door dented in on the leading edge quite bad, wost part is the A piller that the door and fender connect to looks twisted and door is not sealing up in the upper corner next to the window.

Car is an 08 5 speed with 81000 miles on it

What do you think i am thinking 4K to 5K damage and that would put it at 50% value of 9100.00

never know now days. 4- 5k isnt much. Depends on what happened under neath the panels.

 

Door is not lining up Had the same thing on my moms car (camry) ended up with a 6K bill !!!
Also this is on the other driver so no way will there be salvage or aftermarket parts going on

 

These price estimates are making me feel there are serious problems with the cost of auto repair these days. I'm aware medical is totally out of whack, but these costs appear an issue as well !

 

i'd be surprised it is exceeds 3k. new fender, fix the door and hinges, paint, done.

it really comes down to the door, since there are so many electical components in the door for the locks and windows, if it is damaged beyond repair, then it has to be replaced, and everything in it has to be transfered and rewired and/or replaced. the fender, not so much, it is just a body panel more or less.

 

However, the car only costs about $16K new. Replacement of two or three body assemblies/panels including paint and labor shouldn't approach $6K. Who is at fault here, the bean counters?

 

Labor becomes the issue here guys, and it has nothing to do with the shop, the insurance company will pay the labor rate that they use and the shop will accept it. There's likely hidden damage underneath as well. I really doubt it's totaled but that could easily be 4-5k in damage if not more. My 02 Si didn't look much worse than that and it was totaled, so it had to have been atleast 6k in damage.

Good luck with the car though, just make sure they do the work to your satisfaction and don't accept it until its right, especially the paint!

 

Just do it your self and you will have lots or money left over to get anything you want LOL!!! I messed up my front bumper and left side fender and I got 2k to play with and got a new bumper and fender and got the oem fogs and the front bumper painted when it wasnt and a couple extra things LOL But that was on my fxb1.

 

I did somethingsimilar to this to my xb and only cost me barely over a grand so I doubt yours is four thousdand maybe two tops but I'm not a professional

 

4k - 5k??? WTF u be smoking on... just give me 3K u can have my brand new only 5k miles old fender / door / bumper and hood too if you like...

 

2100.00 body shop is quoting more adjuster says possible pillar damage and chance frame may be tweked

Need new fender, Mirror, Door repair however might need to be replaced, bumper, wheel liner, cowling that meets fender needs to be replaced as well.
body shop is checking frame first see what happens next

FYI report is not done buy cop is saying it's my fault waiting on speaking to him

 

So here is the update

I am at fault due to changing lanes regardless of the fact that the other driver was not paying attention!!!! so this is on me

^^^ to elaborate on this there was a disabled truck in my lane, the light was red with several cars stopped, the adjacent lane only had room for one more car

The est from my body shop is at 2800.00 and found out after the fact that the drivers side wheel is damaged and the knuckle may be damaged as well $$$$$

So right now the plan is to put it in the shop in the next two to three weeks.
One week repair time so far.

Only good thing out of it is I will have no problem installing the fog lights now.

 

So the car is currently in the shop as we speak

things getting fixed / replaced

1. New wheel
2. New tire
3. new cowling
4. new hubcap
5. new mirror
6. new fender
7. new bumper
8. repair door


total price tag right now is 3K
hoping to get the car back by friday

 

should of started to break stuff on it to get the damage past 4k

3k is really not that bad, I had a similar damage on my quarter panel in my tC...you'll be golden. Better hope they do a good job with it.
