Default Trade-in value ?

Just curious if anybody with an '08 xB has talked to a dealer about trade-in value ? I have an '08 xB (automatic, XM, fog lights), that is a nice little vehicle, but not meeting my vehicle needs right now - I'm pondering trading it in on another vehicle.

KBB and Edmunds don't list trade-in values yet since it is too new. Anybody have any first-hand experience ?

Yeah, I know you are bound to get hammered on trading a vehicle so new, but I'm sure SOMEBODY has done it and can share their experience

Thanks !

If you go back to Toyota they will absolutely kill you on the trade. Take how much you paid, and lop off about $6-8k. Pure pricing means Toyota makes close to nothing on these vehicles, so they have no incentive to be reasonable. The last two Scions I traded were for brands other than Toyota.

Your best bets are to 1) trade for something other than a Toyota or 2) sell it privately.

I traded in my manual Black 08 for the RS5 just a couple weeks ago. It had 18,000 miles on it, some road rash on the front. They offered me $12k for it, but I got $13k on the trade in pretty easily. Might have gotten more if I tried harder, but figured that was decent, about a 20% loss, which is somewhat usual.

Thanks guys. I have mine on Autotrader now for $15.9k, with 12,000 miles. Trade-in, with the tax break would save about $750 - so I would need to trade-in at about $15.2 to be in the same ballpark.

I will ride it out and see if there is any interest - I haven't had great luck with autotrader or cars.com in the past few years - we will see what happens...

Thanks again !

Default Sold it...

Just as a data point for anybody else that is interested, I sold mine (auto, XM, tinted windows, 12,500 miles), with a set of snow tires, for $15.5k. Not a great deal, but we were both happy. This is in Southern Wisconsin, and I sold it through Autotrader.

Local Northwest Connecticut dealer has an '08 xB 5-speed with no options and 19K miles for $15,995. I think they use it primarily as a tool to sell new xB's.
