the xB, Matrix and the Vibe are all built on the Corrolla chassis.

Yeah, we have no experience in snow removal or ice. Generally one of two things happens. 1 we get sleet or freeing rain and everything ices over. 2 we get snow, it melts, then refreezes and ices over. My parents have always had a 4wd truck out in a rural part of va. From the 90s on it was a chevy k1500 from 96 on it was the tacoma. I bought the tacoma from my former uncls estate and we used it the past year as my parents have a lot of medical attention they need and it shocked us the ambulance refused service.

Anyway, I cant get a new fuel filter on the tacoma and corss threaded the fittings. I had a few ofers at the dealer where I had it towed and people offered to buy it and thought, maybe I should sell it since it only has room for 1 passenger and get a matrix or vibe and trade the xb in too with the funds so I only have one car payment, but we still have a car to drive in the ice and show.

K? Are you trying to say the Matrix isn't AWD?

seems like you already have your mind made up on trading in the xb.

For what its worth I live up in MD not too far from you, and over the winter I had zero problems with my toaster in the snow and ice. At one point I saw an old K5 blazer on what looked like 35's sliding down the shoulder of 295 trying to stop(this 4:30am before the roads had been tended to) ... I drove by him and a steady 35-40mph and got to work on time with no issues...

You just have to realize that there's snow and ice on the ground and not drive like an A-hole(which seems to be hard to do around here)... if you behave and take it easy the xB does just fine!

Oh okay, I thought you were trying to say that since it's made on the Corolla chassis, it wasn't an option.

And I was looking at the xB2 for my parents, and then I saw the new Matrix...the xB2 wasn't even an option any more.

I went the other direction, I was looking at the Rav4, outlander and crv and ended up in love with a box.

Cobb, what year is your Tacoma? Toyota bought mine back @ 150% market value for the frame rusting out. Toyata had bad rust proofing paint ( I believe) from 95 to 2000.

The buy back allowed for me to put a good down payment on the xb. Have you heard of this program? Depending on the year, you may want to get your frame inspected at the dealership.

either way...i think u should just change the title to stick w/tacoma or get new matrix.....most ppl i get the feeling are matrix supp. and of course this is a toyota fan forum....but if i had to pick one i would look at the long term and just pony up some extra and buy a matrix....since it doesnt appear ur going to keep it forever since ur already thinking of selling the tacoma/xb...ur gonna lose A LOT more when u trade/sell the vibe than u will pay now...if ur going to buy one though....now is the time...low interest and all

Me trade the xb???? You know how many fat and tall guys can find a comfortable car to drive? I much rather put the ten grand from the tacoma into the xb and fix my bumper or replace it with a body kit. I just dont want to loose out and screw up either way since Ive used 4wd at least a thousand miles a year on my tacoma as well as the former owner of the vehicle. I care for my parents and they need medical care rather the ambulance will come to them or I have to drive them.

The only reason I posted here is because I read the vibe was a joint venture with toy and wanted to see since you guys are very inteligent in regards to all things toyota vs me and thought since the pontiac was being discontinued, I might be able to break even or get a head with the ten gs from the tacoma and trade of my xb.

I hope or know some of you guys works at dealers as a sales or mechanic and would know if the matrix is getting much of a discount wince it too is available in awd. I did rent an 09 and it was doable, like a stationwagon, but I rather have the xb.

Basically I got a few compund turns where its banked, rolled with ditches on both sides, no guardrails to bounce off of. I cant speak for the xb, but have had my tacoma in a 4 wheel drift and the only solution is to drive out of it and make the turn tighter. I know my tacoma can drive out the ditch or almost anywhere if it does not flip since its lifted 3 inches on 31s.

Thanks for your feed back,
