well it all depends on the dealer. some dealers still suggest every 3k miles an oil change. but some recommend 5k. every 5k you are supposed to rotate the tires. so thats what toyota is pushing towards now

??? Anyone know???
you do only get 2 free maintenances on your 2008 Scion but, this is for everything not just the oil and filter change. So, instead of paying for the tire rotation like you had to before, you walk out 2 times without spending a dime.

It is a better deal this way.

the dealer really doesn't play a factor in factory recommended maintenance schedules. The factory give you a maintenance schedule that says every 5K. So, get your oil changed and your tires rotated at the same time.

Are they not in the back of the Maintenance Schedule book anymore?

true, but also some dealers say "toyota recommends every 3k miles" even if they actually recommend 5k

My Scion dealership also gave me free oil changes for life but at 100,000 mile intervals provided that my car makes it to 200,000 miles.

id also like to add that the maintenance schedule that Toyota made is for non extreme condition areas. so if your area goes over like 90 degrees or under 50 then its an "extreme" area and suggest sooner maintenance

I bought my xB from San Juan Capistrano Toyota and get this...they give FREE Oil changes for life AND free TIRES for life, so if you live in SoCal and are going to buy an xB or any other Scion/Toyota model then go there...plus they're a great Dealership, highly recommended!!

Wow, there is a MISPRINT in the new maintenance book! It says you will find two boxes in the back inside cover for the free services, but there are NONE!!!! What is going on???

Any other 08 xB owners know?

Scion will give you the first 2 Services (not just oil change) it will include the maintenance require at 5k and 10k that includes tire rotation.

If you bought the car from Scion of Glendora it will also include oil changes until 60k.

You get 2 oil changes and 2 tire rotations instead of 3 oil changes. Scion did this because you should have your tires rotated every 5K miles and when customers went in to use there free oil change they were still being asked to pay for a tire rotation. So now your first and second services are free.

As for coupons they are supposed to be located in the back of your Scheduled Maintenance Guide however I am looking at one in my office and I don't currently see it. However you can still receive your service because any Toyota Scion dealership can look up your VIN and view your services. I will contact corporate and get back to you on the coupons.

Also 08 Scion owners may want to read pg 3 of the Scheduled Maintenance Guide because there is time restraints for your free services

they log it into Toyotas database as a warranty repair. all warranty repairs are tracked online now and every dealer can see what kind of warranty repairs that had been done to each car on what day by what dealer and what the technician said about it.

quite nice if you are wanting to know about a cars history....
