Default Weather striping ejected!

Hi everyone...
My 2008 xB (like yours) has two rubber strips down the roof. We had a week or two of 98 degree weather (may or may not be related) and both strips ejected at about the same time. I was not happy to learn that they are about $150 a piece to replace. I looked, and it seems like it may not matter too much that they are gone but, at the same time, they did block some water from channeling onto the attachment side of the windshield.

Has anyone else had this happen?
Is Toyota aware of this or is this just mine?
Is there a way to replace these for under $300?
Has anyone seen my weather stripping on the road?!?!

Thanks for your insight,
Nile.

Yeah, if you go through the threads, several people have had their strips come off. Mine came halfway off on drivers side. Was able to stop and finish pulling it off. Little metal tab at the front had come unglued. Reattached the clip with double sided tape. Will see how long that lasts. Picked up some Gorilla Glue just in case.

I've had 3 of them fly off. It sucks and I think Toyota should own up to a ____ty design.

Haven't hit this problem yet with my '08, but it may be just because I've essentially zero highway miles. If I need to manually pry free the front of the two strips and apply gorilla glue, I'd prefer to learn that now than after the two strips fly off the car !

Well I just looked at my repair job, used the exterior grade 3M double sided tape. The foam sandwich center has seperated and almost pulled apart. Only lasted about a month. It has been hot lately, but may be because the way the clip is attached, it keeps the strip in tension, trying to pull the clip up. Now have to strip off adhesive and will try the Gorilla glue. Factory used some kind of adhesive under the clip, felt kinda rubbery. Almost like a tape strip, looked like it too.
