Default xB go in the snow?

Lease is up on my car and I'm considering the xB. I've been a big fan of the Scion ever since we got my daughter an xA.

As I was driving home last night in an ice storm I was wondering how does the xB handle the snow. If push comes to shove I can slap a set of snows on her.

the stock tires suck in the snow. but it has traction control and stability control which both help a LOT. Its not going to tear through the snow or anything but its done fine for me through a michigan winter.

Being in Cleveland, we have our share of bad storms. I think the xB handles EXCEPTIONALLY WELL, even with stock tires. It stops quickly, and when it slides the traction control and ESC control it very quickly. I have had no scary moments as of yet driving this thing on ice, snow, rain, etc... Very controlled and one of the best.

If you put on winter tires, expect even better control, obviously.

But yeah, does excellent in the snow.

I live in Montana and picked up an xB1 in July. I work at a ski hill so I drive snow, ice and what-have-you nearly every day. With a set of Bridgestone Blizzaks mounted for the winter it has handled everything I've thrown at it. The VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) works great and the traction control is nice, unless you want some tire spin for the deeper snow (in which case, I just shut it off).

The front-wheel drive of the xB handles the winter weather better than many of the rear-wheel drives and almost as well as the four-wheel drives I see out there. Just my two cents. Thanks

did any of you have any issues with the ___ end trying to pass the front while on slightly off camber roads? we got a few inches in jersey a couple weeks back and i wasn't impressed. the rear felt sloppy. it is, however, my first car with VSC, so maybe i was trying to drive it as if it didn't have it and that screwed me up. and with or without the traction control on, it was wicked hard to get her moving. stock tires always suck, but come on now...

I've had to turn mine off a few times. One time I got hemmed up coming out of my driveway and stuck in the curb. It's annoying when you're just trying to peel out and slide out of the area and it won't let you.

ebrakes in the snow, FTW!!!

here in NE Ohio the weather has been marginal for the last few weeks. i have snow tires and not once did i ever feel like the car was not planted well. for a non AWD car i'd give the xB a rating of 10 out of 10

The xB is great in the snow. However, like others mentioned, the stock tires are garbage. Every car I've ever had came with crappy tires. It's just the way the manufacturers save money. They have to give you tires, but no one said they have to give you good tires. So, I always replace the stock tires asap.

I have a set of these on my 2008 xB now, and they work great in all conditions:

Truly awesome tires.

The xb handles ok in the snow, not horrible but not great. My last car was an awd turbo so that is what I am used to. In that car was never ever not able to get anywhere, in that car two winters ago when my neighbor was stuck on the hill and I drove a circle around her just to prove how well it handled.

I've heard a number of people RAVE about the hakkepellita (sp?). A friend of mine lived in europe and swears by them. I checked your link and there's a dealer right down the street. A set of 4 on steel rims is a great investment. Hell it's less than my deductible!
