Default Brakes maybe??

I need some help! My husband and I have a 2008 xB and we're having some trouble figuring out what is making noise. From a cold start there will be a metallic grinding noise when braking for the first few minutes. It doesn't sound screechy. The brakes also feel kinda rough when it's making the noise, and they feel fine afterwards. Before we rip the car apart we want to have an idea of what we're looking for. Thanks for your input!

I would pull the wheels off and take a look. Could be a caliper isn't sliding on the pins properly. Initially when you hit the brakes the claiper is not retracting enough and you have the pad riding on the rotor. Once it warms up you are getting free movement on the pin. Pull the wheel off and look for uneven pad wear. You may find that you have eaten into the rotor and have to replace it.

When I do breaks, I just count on putting new rotors on. It seems all manufacturers have gone cheap and the rotors will warp on the second set of pads.
