Default Steering Issues

I have 2014 xB, I've had it since new. The problem i have is the front end wanders all the time. I've had it aligned and new tires and still does the same thing. The dealer says its a known problem, I've asked many xB owners and none have had this issue. The strange thing is one time i pulled over on the freeway and shut the car off then restarted the steering worked fine. The dealer says nothing changed thats impossible. I have read the the steering ECU could be an issue on these cars has anyone else had this problem. Thanks

Not familiar w/your noted issue. MY 2012 handles just fine.

Dont think electronics would have an effect on the 100% mechanical steering (the steering wheel & shaft connect direct to the rack/pinion)

Unless the power steering pump w/pulsating & inducing a steering moment???

Everything I read says there is a Electrical Power Steering ECU under the dash.

What i was trying to point out, it is still a fully mechanical linkage set-up.

Instead of a pwr steering pump, its electrically assisted (thanks for the info). Still doesnt change the point i was trying to make. Just dont see how this wandering issue is the result of electronics

Bad read of steering wheel angle could do it. Bad data from the module. I don't believe there is a direct physical link between the rack and steering wheel anymore.

Check the mounting bolts for your lower control arms. I had the same issue with steering and a shudder under braking and it turned out that one of the control arm bolts was slightly backed off causing both issues to happen.
