Power steering issues
I turned my car off and when I got out the wheel turned and locked. When I got back in my EPS light was on the dash and I can't turn the wheel. Tried to reset by turning the car on and off. Changed fuse as well as tried to reset CPU by disconnecting battery. Nothing made the steering reset. Light is still on and steering is stiff. Any thoughts on what could have happened or what is wrong? 2008 scion xb 198k miles.
You've most likely lost power to the EPS. Possible that it's just blown a fuse in the engine bay fuse box or it's also possible the power steering ecu is fried. The ECU is located in the top of the dash if you know how to remove the upper dash pad, there's a how to for it on here or on clubxb. Check the engine compartment fuse first then work your way through to testing the power at the p/s ECU. The car will still be drivable without the power steering, it'll just suck to turn it at slow speeds. I had mine go out years ago but I got lucky and it started working again a day later.
I've attached the basic parts diagram for the power steering below.

Thanks for sharing the information. I’m currently puzzling over a similar question. I’d also like to add that I found the online editor in the article https://timesofmalta.com/article/pdf...rms-a2.1098065 about PDF Guru, which I think is really good, especially for working with PDF manuals. I finally managed to compile all my manuals into one convenient document for use. I think this tool would work great for many people.
