Default Springs info

Just trying to organize it all and piece together info, help appreciated. I'm sure it'll serve as a reference guide to some.

I'll try to edit and update as info becomes available.

Download here: 2008xB_springs.xls

Hope this helps folks, I was looking for something like it so I just made it...

yeah i think it will, it would be a good way to compare our options from price to performance. GREAT SUCCESS!

Thanks. I'll just try to keep it all organized and updated as best I can.
By the way folks, if you don't have Excel all you really need are the free viewers that Microsoft provides as downloads on their site and/or if you have a gmail account they also have a section of their services that handles documents and spreadsheets.

I found it helpful but I think the TRD info might be off a bit. I believe the TRD springs are more like 1" front and 1.5" rear drop. The stock springs have a serious front to rear rake (~1") but all the pics I've seen of TRD fitted XB2s look much more level. I'm fairly sure that the TRD springs drop the rear more than the front. I plan on finding out firsthand very soon.

Stock, my XB2 sits ~1" higher in the rear than front. Ideally I want to drop mine 1" in front and 2" in the rear.

I don't have excel installed on my comp!

I agree on the rake of the stock springs and I don't really like it. I'd like to investigate the stock Gen 1 xB springs. Anyone in PDX have a pair laying around?

I keep seeing threads where the owners say they settle to around 2".
I'll adjust it for the time being to 1 F and 1.5 R.
Thanks.

I haven't received my TRD springs yet so all I have to go by are the photos of XBs with them installed and my stock spring setup. Stock, my rear sits a little over 1" higher than the front (relative to the wheel wells) but XBs with TRD springs appear to be more balanced front to rear. I certainly hope that the TRD springs drop the rear a bit more than the front because it needs it.

I'll know for sure in about a week. For my needs, 1.5" front and 2.5" rear drop would be perfect.

Update on the TRD springs. I installed mine a few weeks ago and as close as I can tell, they dropped the front 1" and the rear 1.5". Possibly as much as 1.5" front and 2" rear. I sure wish I had taken more measurements before installing them. They definitely leveled the car a lot but the rear still sits a little higher (1/2"?).

Also, Eibach Sportlines are out and I've seen pics of them installed on a XB2. Unfortunately Eibach doesn't list the drop on their website but the owner claims 2.25" front and 3" rear. Judging by his pics, that sounds about right to me.

It annoys me that manufacturers don't list all the specs we'd like to see. Spring rates, drop, etc.

Has anyone measured the diff in height between the front and rear with the stock springs or know what the stock spring rate is?

I have heard a lot of "about an inch" in height diff, etc, but I don't have anywhere flat to measure it accurately...like to 1/8th inch or less...

Iwish I had taken more accurate before and after measurements but as I recall, the gap from tire to wheel well lip stock was 2" front, 3.5" rear (+/-1/2"). After installing the TRD springs those gaps decreased to 1" front and 2" rear.

Not as accurate as you requested but who can even notice an 1/8" difference anyway? IMO all the available springs still fall into only 2 categories: 1-2" drop and 2-3" drop. The rest is purely semantics and brand preference.

I took the measurements myself; from the ground, the top of the front wheel well is 26.75" and the top of the rear is 28.5".

This is a 1.75" difference, which means the tien springs, which have the biggest rear/front drop ratio, still only kill about 1/2 of the stock rake. That is fine with me, I hate cars that sit higher in the front (see GM fwd).

How Bout This... better than the XML spreadsheet... you can post this and have it made a sticky and modify it as things change/updates come.
