Can't reset TPMS light on 2014 XB
I didn't have to do that. Wanted to avoid that problem like the plague.
Are the sensors bluetooth?? If so, you may need to get your old sensors a long way away from the scan tool
Or put the scan tool and new sensors in a microwave (for shielding) to record the numbers... Obviously, don't turn the microwave on.
All the youtube video's I see talk about Activating them (waking them up), then Registering them - like that is 2 separate things

Good question about potential blue tooth capability. Unfortunately, my tire scanner is not blue tooth. I asked the seller if the keep a record of the ID numbers in hopes I can hard-key them into the scanner. I also need to ask whether the new sensors can be cloned. If so, my old numbers can be assigned to the new sensors... if my scanner tool is clone ready.
Whew! You indeed avoided the plague, lol.
EDIT: I read about battery "wake up". I tried it to no avail. Then I read that pressure has to be released quickly. I only compressed the springs. I may need to try again, but this time I'll remove the springs to release the pressure faster. What a mystery burger.

I think you have to get that tire shop to do the activation / registration.
I changed just 1 battery at first, to see if I could do it and how hard the process would be. The new batteries measured 3.44V
After putting it in, the voltage started to drop - oh oh, I think they are turned on. By the time I was pouring the RTV mix in the first one the voltage was down to 3.05 or something like that.
I had no way to put them to sleep, so I had to hurry up and do the other 3 ASAP.
Lucky for me, the reset process worked - With trip mode A selected, turn off the key, hold the reset button under the dash up & turn on the ignition at the same time. I waited for the beeping to stop before releasing the button. Then just sat there while the light flashed, no engine start and after about a minute, the light went off. Oh look at the time, it's beer thirty.
I have a suspicion that the cars computer sends a signal to the sensors when the ignition is turned off, to turn off the sensors to save the batteries. Then when you turn on the ignition it wakes them up, using the registration numbers as a key. I don't know for sure, if someone does, let me know.
I thought this link may have helped me - it is thorough, but lacks the detail I want to know

EDIT: I hear you that my tire ship should register the sensors. Unfortunately, we had a communication problem and they got uh... attitudinal with me. Apparently I was supposed to indicate whether or not I wanted the sensors registered. I said that seemed redundant. The tire shop said due to customers buying their own TPMS scanners (because they're mad at the tire shop for charging too much) the tire shop now only does what the customer specifically states. I guess I failed to say "register".
