do we need to worry about clearing the brake calipers?

Kind of a vague question huh? What do you mean, "clear"?

as in: "do certain wheel faces not extend past the calipers?"

is that something to consider?

i doubt it but wondering if a flat face won't "clear" or have enough room.

thanks

You shouldn't have problems with clearing the calipers when you install new wheels as the hub is pretty much offset enough to cover any wheel.

So, unless the wheel was made to go inwards towards the body, or center of the car after it mounts to the hub (which would be incredibly retarded), you shouldn't have a problem.

Does that make sense?

The only ones I know that will not work are the AXIS wheels with the Maxis Lip.

That is an unusual design and the only one I know that does not clear the calipers on the 08 xB.
