Default Crappy stealership experience

Sup erreybuddy......Sorry if this is long....but I gotta vent to somebody...

OK, here I go. I bought the 19" TRDs when bought my xB 2 weeks ago. I FINALLY got them put on today, after 'waiting for the labels' to come in. Some labels showing load capacity, pressure, or something. Fine. If it's the law, like the stealership told me, then it's the law. Whatever.

When I dropped it off, I told the service mgr to make sure the guys buffed out 2 scratches on the drivers side door that were there when I bought it. I had been there 2 days prior to have it lowered and get the stereo put in, and they had 'forgotten about the scratch' I also told him to make sure to get me my stock wheels and tires back after the install. He tells me it's no problem.

Anyways, service manager calls me up and lets me know it's ready, come on by. I show up, and they pull her around. First thing I notice is that my old wheels and tires aren't in the back. I then walk around to the driver's side, and see that they didnt try buffing out the scratches. So, I walk over to a service chick, and let her know I need my stock wheels and tires. She starts arguing that I don't get them back, blah blah blah.

I tell her no, no, no, I bought them when I bought the car. They came with it. You dont buy a car with no rims and tires, and have to pay to add them on so you can drive your damn car away. The dealership doesn't get to take them back if I already paid for them. After 10 minutes back and fourth, she agrees and has a tech get me my wheels and tires. Cool. 1 down, 1 to go. I show her the scratches, and tell her that they was supposed to have been buffed out. She said she was sorry that it had been overlooked AGAIN, and that I am welcome to bring it back anytime and they'll take care of it. Ugh. At this point, I need to get back to the office to meet with a client, so I take off.

As I'm driving off, I look at my service reciept. It says: 19" TRD Wheels REMFG.

REMFG?????? Are you $&#ing serious???? I paid $2150 for REMANUFACTURED WHEELS????? After 2 weeks of waiting, it has ended like this??? I then look for the 'label required by law' when I get to the office, and it's nowhere to be found. Not on any door frames, under the hood, nowhere. I waited 2 weeks for a label to come in, and they didn't even put it on my car?

So now, I have to go in tomorrow and raise hell. Exactly what I wanted to spend my Saturday morning doing. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.........

Oh, the dealership is Frontier Toyota/Scion in Valencia, CA. If you can avoid their service department, I would really advise it. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I suggest you go to www.scion.com and click on the "contact us" link. Then paste in the link to this specific thread. It will serve 3 purposes:
#1. Scion will see THAT they have a very unhappy customer.
#2. Scion will see WHY they have a very unhappy customer.
#3. Scion will see that the poor service of one of their dealerships is being broadcast publicly on a huge internet forum.

I would be very surprised if Scion National does not contact you directly to make sure that you are taken care of fully to your satisfaction. If they do, you owe it to them to let us all know their efforts. If they do not, you owe it to them to continue ranting until they get it.

Thanks for the advice CIONIDE...

I went ahead and 'filed a complaint' via the web, and am now waiting to hear back from them. I wonder though, how many of us have gotten remanufactured parts, when we should be getting new ones. I mean, I can understand reman if they are replacing the same thing. like if you crack a rim, and they replace it with a reman one. But when you buy them new with your new car, they should be new, right? and if not, they should disclose that to you up front.

the sad part is that this has ruined my scion experience. i was previously impressed with scion, based on my purchase. it was butter smooth; in and out of the dealership in less than an hour. It was after the sale that everything went downhill. Regardless of the outcome of me now contacting corporate/national, i know i will never go back to the dealership i bought from. Not a chance. they have definately lost a customer.

So the 'Customer Relations' guy from the dealership finally got back to me. His explanation for the 'REMFG' crap is that any part # that ends in 84 is automatically assigned that REMFG code to it. If it was truly remanufactured, the code would have ended in -84. I don't know if he's just BSing me to cover up for their crap, or if it's really true.

Whatever. I think it's a BS scam, but what do i know. I'm not worried about them being remanufactured as far as quality goes, since it's all under warranty anyways. I just feel like i was ripped off.

Anybody else still have their TRD wheels reciept? If anybody does, can you check and see if yours says REMFG on it? Cause if it doesn't, then I'll know that they are Effing me over.

Thanks guys (and girls)

Did you get the stickers from them yet? That is where you are supposed to get your recommended tire inflation information. There have been several discussions about that information here but I've never seen a picture of one.

Have you heard anything from Scion corporate yet?

No. I have yet to see any stickers from them. they are supposed to be mailing them to me. That's what they said at least. This is all coming from the dealership Customer B.S. agent. lol. If I ever get it, I'll post up a pic. I still need to slap one up of my xB but I need to wash it first.

I did talk to Scion National, and they didn't do anything for me, other than have the dealership call me to sort whatever out. They were nice and apologized and whatnot.

At this point I think I'll just see what I can find out about other people getting REMAN on their service slip, and see if I got scammed or not. I dunno. I feel like the dealership owes me more than just a simple 'oh that's just a code that comes up. Oh, and we'll mail you your labels'. It was such a pain waiting for 2 weeks for that stupid label, and then not to even install it (which takes what, like 2 seconds?). They didn't offer me any sort of compensation, or anything. they still haven't buffed out the scratches on the door that they have said they would do. the dude i talked to on the phone at scion told me to have a car wash do it.

I know it's not a Scion thing, it's just that dealership's lack of professionalism and interest in customer satisfaction.

HA. No im not laughin at u, but this is exactly how the dealerships are in vegas. Not just toyota but every dealership. I've had encounters with VW, ford, pontiac, and chevy and every dealership in the "worlds largest auto mall" is f'ed up. I know exactly how u feel. Its like talking to a wall.

I understand your frustration. I think that Scion really needs to concentrate on their service departments. Especially when their product is so reliant on add-ons, and accessories. When I bought my 09 XB2 the buying experience could not of been better, but when I had all my after market goodies installed they scratched my door getting in the leather and made numerous mistakes. Now after giving them my car for 1 week I have to take it back for another 2 days to have the items that were wrong taken care of.

1 more thing (while I'm venting) The Leather and Headrest screens were installed by 3rd party vendor and they have to take my car 20 miles to their shop to fix the problems. I don't know about you but I'm not crazy about the idea of some shop kid driving my car 20 miles. I can guarantee he wont baby it, and be on the lookout for those 19", 40 series tire eating pot holes like I do.

I still would not trade my XB2 for anything, but Scion really needs to step up its game when it comes to service departments.
