VINYL.
yes, vinyl.
Gonna wrap the spokes and center with vinyl that matches the HTM....
What does everyone think of the idea?
OTHER than the fact that it should just get powdercoated... haha

The vinyl matching sounds great, but I don't know how it'd look on the wheels. Wouldn't it chip away over time from debris? If you do go that route, I'd suggest just the spokes. I think it'd stand out more that way.

If you don't want it to stand out as much, wrap the center as well so you just have the ring around.

Hmm. Maybe I can do that in the future. I just feel like it'd be way too much yellow, but I can imagine how nice it'll look if it's painted, too.

Maybe during the summer I can take on this task.

But I still have to sound deaden my car, bake the headlights and paint them, install Bat's bumper overlay, and finish painting the interior. lol I have a lot of projects!

I only plan to do the spokes, and the center cap, and i'm really just testing what i like right now, they vinyl will only cost me around $35 for more than enough to get al of what i want done, and it's easy enough to remove if it comes out like doo-doo.
It's going to be very time consuming, but i hope it's worth it... i'll keep you posted.

It's all a function of unsprung weight, and the rotational inertia that needs to be overcome by the power of the engine to get that weight moving.

In other words, the heavier your tires & wheels (and the further out that weight is located from the center of the hub), the lower your gas mileage will be. The drop in mileage is also most affected in stop-and-go city driving, as compared to highway driving, since stop-and-go city driving puts the biggest strain on accelerating the unsprung weight. The solution is running the lightest weight tires & wheels that you can find that you like.

My 18" wheels are 3#'s lighter up front than stock, and 1# heavier in the rear; but my tires are more than 4#'s heavier up front than stock, and over 6#'s heavier in the rear. Additionally, since my after-market tires are much wider than the OEM tires, there is also much more rolling resistance to overcome. When I replace my tires, my next set will be about the same weight as the OEM Goodyear RS-A's and have a lower rolling resistance, so I expect my mileage to be a lot closer to the original tires & steelies. Another short term solution to help with the rolling resistance would be to inflate your tires to a higher PSI. I currently keep my fronts at 40 psi, and my rears at 36 psi.

@mikeyxB: Nice! The wheel setup exaggerates the look. Your wheels almost look like 19s to me!

Lookin' good! Nice to see it all worked without any rubbing.

Watch out for curbs, or you'll be sending those rims to be re-polished.

This is my daily driver, so here's what my 225/45/18s look like. Needless to say, they are a lot more comfortable then my previous 215/40/18s setup and don't look half bad in person. There are some drawbacks going with a meatier tire, but the advantage is a more comfortable ride. It even raised my front end just enough that I don't obnoxiously scrape everywhere.

ENJOYDONG, lovin the AXIS rims...I would love to slap a set on the wife's RS7.0...What are the specs on the rims and what size tires did you go with? Also, where did you get the set up from? Perhaps nlmotoring? I love my AXIS rims that I got from them...
