Default Picking up some rims tomorrow, questions about recommended tire size...

Hello all, relatively new xB2 owner here, but already have a few mods done. I'm sitting on Tein STechs right now and have been looking for the right set of rims for quite some time now, and today I took the plunge and bought some rims that fit the look that I'm going for.

I bought some used 17'' x 8'' +20 BMW BBS wheels, same as these:
http://media.photobucket.com/image/B...illis/bbs1.jpg

I'm looking to do the same style that Axiswheels had shown in his thread a while ago. Now I know that the wheels aren't my bolt pattern but they are being redrilled to 5x114.3 as we speak and should be ready for pickup tomorrow. They are a little rough around the edges, no noticable bends or cracks, but we do have some minor curb rashing on the outer lip, so a refinish is in the future. But the best part is what I paid...for all four rims with professional redrilling service I handed the guy $240. Way less then what I was going to pay for some 16'' XXR's!!

Now my question is this, since this is a custom application, I should be the first xB2 to rock this exact setup, so I don't know what to expect in tire sizing and rubbing issues. I don't think that I'll rub, especially if I get a tire with some stretch to it, I just don't want that extreme stretch look that some people are into. So my question to all the wheel guru's is what size tires do you recommend? I was thinking around a 215/45/17...what do ya'll think?

Sorry for the long rant.

With the +20 offset and the S-Tech drop I'm thinking that you will still have rubbing problems with a 215/45 tire size. Fender rolling might help, but I'm not sure if it will be enough. You might check with NEEK, he's run some of the most aggressive offsets & drop that I've seen.

Alright, now I'm thinking about either a 205/45/17 or a 205/40/17. I think that will give me a bit more clearance and give me the look I want. If I'm still rubbing a bit, hopefully a small amount of rolling will work well enough for me. Picking up the rims tomorrow!! Now I just gotta pick a color for the mesh. I'm thinking polished lip and either Takata green, red, or bronze for the mesh. I think the green on my Super White will make it "pop" just right

With the S-Tech drop and +20 offset I'd say either 205/45-17 or 195/50-17 tires. IMHO 205/40 is just too small in diameter. I know you don't like a heavy tire stretch, but you can't poke the wheels that much and not stretch the tires. If you're running stock springs & no sway bars with the S-Techs, I'd say go with the 195/50's. If you're OK with upgrading to TRD shocks/sways or Tokico HP blues, and Hotchkis sway bars, then you should be fine with the 205/45's. Either way you'll probably need a little fender rolling to avoid any rubbing at all.

After looking at some 205/45/17 tires on 8'' wide wheels on google, I think that I'm gonna go with them. I do see myself getting front and rear sway bars in the future, but the shocks and struts prob won't get changed out til they need to be.
