Default Staggered wheels??

I dont know too much about staggered setup. Does that mean that the rear wheels are wider?? or that they stick out farther than the fronts? Also do the 2gen xb's need staggered wheels and what are the advantages of doing so. Thanks for any info.

you don't need wider rear wheels on the gen2 or any front wheel drive vehicle, it's a matter of look and personal preference, thats all.
some of us just like the look of a staggered set up, and we also like a big ol fat lip you can lay a steak and eggs on..

The only advantage is looks. You will not be able to rotate your tires with a staggered setup which is prob the biggest disadvantage. But it looks sweet!

to run a staggered fitment on a dropped box, you need to buy wheels with correct offset so as to push them flush with the fenders w/o rubbing, and roll your inside fender lips for clearance.

Basic definition of staggered is that your wheels and tires
have a difference in circumference or diameter, or can
mean a difference in width as stated above.

Tire rotation can be possible if your running the same size
tires all around, as some of us do, the only thing is that you
actually have to "rotate your tires", In other words physically
remove each tire and put it on a different wheel.

15x7fr 16x7r = staggered

15x7fr 15x8r = staggered

You can also stagger offsets, for instance, +40 in front and +30 rear can give the look of staggered widths (more lip in back) but use the same size tires.

Something else associated with staggered (wider rear) is more understeer. On my VW I noticed it quite a bit. I had 18x8.5 in front and 18x10 in the rear. Everyone on the VW forums has the same issue, so I imagine it would be the case with the xB's. Not really a big deal in every day driving, but if your romping through some curvy roads, you'll notice it.

I'd like to go staggered on my xB but I can't decide. For one I'd have to go lower for it to look good since the biggest I'll go is 18's. But I don't really want to go get my fenders rolled.
