I got a 2008 Scion xB and I got new TPMS sensors from AutoZone. They don't need programmed just installed and the relearn process done.
Tire shop doesn't do the relearn process. I was wondering how I would go about doing it? There's a small button under the driver side dash.
Also, get a new tire shop. If they can't figure out as simple a procedure as TPMS relearning then you don't want them working on the car. This is part of their job.

Interesting post. I have a 2015 Gen2. Mine does not have the reset illustrated in the link, or the TPMS light. Did all Gen2's have TPMS? I have attached a picture of my wheels that came with the car when I purchased it. I've not seen these wheels on another,
are they a Scion option or simply an aftermarket with a Scion center hub emblem attached? I've done exhausting searches for these wheels without any results. These wheels do have a metal valve stem, if that's any indication of TPMS? Thx

Don't know about the wheels but... "In the United States, as of 2008 and the European Union, as of November 1, 2012, all new passenger car models released must be equipped with a TPMS." Your Gen2 has to have it.

Yes, you had TPMS sensors stock. The reset button is under the driver's side of the dash on the right hand side near the center console. Two option on if you have TPMS. Either yes you do and it has just never needed to turn on, or the previous owner removed, or taped over, the bulb in the dash. Easy test would be to let about 10 psi out of one of the tire and drive on it for a short distance. The light should come on if you have TPMS sensors. If it doesn't then something has been done to get rid of the indicator light.
No, those are not stock option wheels. They just have Scion logo center caps added to them. If you take one off the manufacturer should be stamped or label on there.

I check/adjust my tire air pressure monthly. This habit is from riding motorcycles, so when I fire up the compressor I simply check everything. Suppose it's never needed to illuminate, due to the constant monitoring I do. I am detailing my Xbox this morning. Going to let some air out and check it for proper operation and will pull one of the Scion Logos off a wheel and solve my mystery.
The three blinks is for resetting the existing sensors. You need to TPMS module to recognize the new sensors, which requires specific tools to do. I would just take it by any tire shop and have them do it. takes all of 5-10 minutes for the procedure, plus whatever time it takes them to get to it.

I have a few cars in the family that need sensors, a Scion, a Lexus and probably a GM that will need the sensors replaced soon. The quotes from the local tire shops and the dealer tell me I can spend the cash to buy an ODBII tool for $3-$400 and still come out way ahead. Local tire shop quoted $150 for the Scion and Lexus wanted $400/tire for the ES. Not for new tires but new sensors and programming. Yes, they are on crack IMO. I just want to do the research to know the right process and get a good quality, capable tool.

Damn, those prices are stupidly high. I think the last time I had mine programmed it was $40-50. Pretty sure that was at America's/Discount Tire but it may have been a local place. Has been a few years since I had to do it so my pricing may not be realistic any more.
