Default Help me troubleshoot my HID install!

Hey everyone! I came upon a set of HIDs that I had ordered for the wife's xD the other day and am trying to get them installed. They've been in the box for a while since they were shuffled around a bit in our move, so I'm not sure if the issue is with the kit or my work. Any input would help...

So far I've installed everything, as normal and nothing happens when I fire up the headlights. I've reversed the polarity on the plug from the ballast AND the plug from the ballast to the car's power to no avail. Yup... 4 different combinations and no workie! I've attempted both bulbs and ballasts in both of the headlight plugs so I'm just not sure where to go from here.

I have an Umnitza 35w kit. The bulbs are labelled H4Hi on the cord.

Here are some pics of my connections. Help!

Any noise from the ballasts when you power the lights?

Hmm I didn't check. I just went back to the cabin to flip the switch and when nothing happened, turned it back of to fiddle. Maybe I'll check that tomorrow. Should I hear a buzz?

I was wondering if perhaps the leads from the bulb that plug into the car's harness (see pic 1) aren't wired correctly? Do I have the ground or power going into the wrong terminals?

Why is there no wire in the black plug against the blue wire in the factory white plug? Is that just for the high beam that's not used on HID's?

I think if you turn on the high beams your hid's will come on. To me it looks like you need to use blue and green wires from the factory plug.

Oh good point... I will try that tomorrow. Hopefully if that's the case then a simple rewire of the plug will solve it.

these look similar to some that i had bought. i had to completely rewire the plug in the first pic for everything to work right, and im now replacing them cause the wiring just didnt last.

already replaced the ballasts and going to replace the bulbs soon (they are in the mail). did you get these from ebay?

Also don't hesitate to check your fuse.

Holy frijoles! I put one of them back in and flipped on the high beams and TA DA! They work. Now I just need to change the terminal the plug is coming out of and it should work like normal. Thanks a bunch, guys!

I'll update tomorrow once I have the exact wiring, but if you look at pic #1 up there, I'm assuming I change the positive (red) lead so that it connects to the blue wire from the harness. The green must be the positive lead for the high beams.

I bought these from Umnitza a while back, BTW.

Well... I was right in my assumptions! All I needed to do was move the positive (red) lead on the plug from the ballast to the top slot and it worked fine!

Too bad one of my ballasts is dead. Oy.

Oh well. I'm just glad I figured out what was up. Time to order a new set!
