most performance mods will cause a decrease in mpg. the whole process of making more power out of an engine is adding more air so the engine can inject more fuel to make more power. the increase in power is directly related to the increased air flow and inversely related to mpg.

take for instance 318_tc, he made 454 whp and his turbo tc got 8 mpg. while my super charged tc has 225 whp and still gets mid 20's mpg. because his turbo sucked in WAAAAAYYYY more air then my tc ever could.

Well here's what you do if you people want the parts... get a group of 10-20 people (or more, preferably) who are committed to putting down the money on this part upfront. THEN you go talk to the company and say, "Hey, I have X people commited to putting down their cash for those parts if you are willing to produce."

Group buys work wonders in the production industry!

Who said I'm in the US???

I'm from Cost Rica. And yep all US Yaris are are sold with the 1.5l no exception.

Mine is a 2008 Yaris TS (T-Sport). Is an European version. A few of these were brought here on a special order.

Check it out:

sweet! keep us updated, my g/f might be getting one of the 1.8L matrix (with the same motor the xD and your Yaris) so it would be fun.

The fuel economy issue is less related to the mods and more related to how you use them. The long-tube header and intake manifold might actually improve fuel mileage or at least have no effect on a steady state test. If you have your foot in the throtle more, you will use more fuel-it takes extra fuel to make the extra power but there is no change under cruise conditions. I like the Xd-especially the motor-I wish my Yaris had the Xd motor-I got nearly 40 mpg (39.5) driving from Cali to Vegas at a steady 70 mph.

What do you mean? Swapping a 2ZR into a xb-xa-Echo-Yaris?

My Yaris comes equipped from factory with the 2zr'fe 1.8L engine.

Engine bay on the Yaris and the xD are almost the same.

I honestly believe you could fit the tC motor in our cars since the corolla has both equipped in their lineup. I don't think its worth it though since Dynateks upgrades will have u at the same numbers most likely for at least half the price.

I wouldn't want the lunk in my xD. too big and boring of an engine. M2 Motorings 3S-GTE swapped xD for the win! that is a much better and prolly easier swap than the tC motor

Is that M2 car running? Or is just another show car only?

I don't think it will be cheaper swapping a 3SGTE over the TC engine... But it sure would be awesome!

Anyways.... We wont see engine swaps on these cars any time soon. Maybe in 5-6 years. The cars are too new. There are no easy enough swap options yet.

You know what will be nice? a 3ZR-FAE swap. But again it will be quite a few years before we can get one of these bad boys from Japan. Not sure if it will be coming to America. Maybe in the corolla in a couple of years.

For the people who don't know what the 3ZR-FAE engine is. Is the new 2.0L 4 cyl with double VVT-I and VALMATIC ( The new lift technology)

3ZR-FAE
158 hp @ 6,200rpm
148 lb-ft TQ @ 4,400rpm
33 MPG
164 g/km of CO² emissions

Lots of potential there....!
