How much do you have to worry about water with the CAI's?
Most people say there is nothing to worry about, but I have seen 2 stories on here involving a downpour with an intake that sits by the bottom of the bumper (K&N typhoon is that low but that wasn't the one they had) and the engine locking up from water. If you're worried about water the one I have is perfect, except it's not a true "cold air intake".

Yeah I seen those covers, they are water resistant though, not proof, so they would help some.

I thought the K&N Typhoon one was shorter... I may have been wrong.

Is Injen a fairly reliable brand? Does anyone have the link to the CAI? I wonder why theirs is making a few more HP and torque than the others.
Not crashing or jacking an xD thread.... but thought I'd chime in on this one. I have had Injen CAI's on both of my tC's....and simply great quality product hands down. Great materials, great fitment, etc. And I had an Injen CAI on my 06 tC I bought new in 05 drove 60K + on it..... performed perfectly....then did my own custom wiring on my new 08 tc I bought and installed the same Injen CAI on it and is still running flawlessly.

guess what... here's your solution... dont run it as a full CAI... run it as a SRI... hell you only lose 1 single hp by doing that... then you never have to worry about Hydrolocking..... and you will have very easy maint. as a SRI to clean/replace the filter.... done... end of story

You can run the injen either way? Sounds like that is a good option.

I don't know about the xD version but the xA yes. http://www.ultrarev.com/files/images...t_29292_03.jpg You can see in this picture where the rubber piece and clamp is and you can take off the bottom part and put the filter on right there. But why would you pay around $300 for half an intake?

Injen has bumped the date to June 23(come and gone). Whats the deal? I think they're just playing with my emotions. Guess I'll wait another week and see if they have laid out the sp2104.

They also changed the gain to 8hp and 7lbs of torque.

It should be available now. I'm trying to get one from carcandymotorsports, but he hasn't told me anything yet.

I never got a response back from Injen to my email so I will probably get something else. I am thinking the K&N since it is shorter so probably wont get water in it, and still 5.4HP.

I just did the Spectre air filter from Auto Zone that lots of others have done as well...Less than $30 bucks and simple to install...If you get it, make you get the one that says, 3", 3.5", 4"...There are removable rubber inserts for each application...Here is a pic of mine with engine bay lighting:

hey yelo,
with that spectre air filter, is there still a place to plug in the electronic sensors? its hard to tell from the photo.
did you notice a difference in performance? it looks a lot better that the standard air box, at the very least!
thanks

with the spectre, you dont have to unplug anything. just take out the stock air box and insert the filter. The MAF sensor remains in its original position.

I may seem bias but I would vote for the Fujita. I have it on my xD very easy install sits behind the headlight. Ive had it on for alittle bit an no water problems.

I can take some pics an post them later. Ive noticed a alittle bit of a difference in acceleration an with the TRD exaughst its not super loud.
