Intake
anyone remember when there was this big stink about removing the intake snorkle from the airbox on xB1's? I did that to said car and now I have done the same to the xD. I have done first fillup since and will see if mpg's jump a bit. now with it getting much cooler, I suppose measurements may get skewed a bit. I had been hitting a range of roughly 375 miles on a tank with mixed city/highway driving. is it faster? dunno. don't have a dyno to answer that question. is it louder? yes. changes pitch slightly around 5000rpm's. so let's see what happens before I go and spend money on intakes
i have to start looking into this because i would give my left arm to get 375 miles between fill ups - i'm lucky to get 275 miles between fill ups when my wife drives and when i drive the car even with every trick in the book i have to work hard to average 31 mpg.
with that said my after market 18's are quite a bit heavier than stock so that is relative and i live in southwest florida during our hottest period of the year so AC is blasting.
i was actually considering going the ghetto CAI route with a 3.5" k&n and some flex tube?

the only way ive been getting personal records in gas mileage is by using the cruise control every chance i can... i drive mostly freeway at about 60mph. my mileage did go up a little when i installed my ghetto intake from autozone.
